Your most hated teams...
To steal a similar idea from mvhsbball (something like that)...
If you could inflict years of torment on a SINGLE team from every sport, what team would that be?
Mine:
MLB- Mets. Was a toss-up between the Mets and Phillies...they've both surpassed the Yanks.
NFL- Carolina Panthers
College Bball: UNC
College Football: University of Florida
NBA: LA Lakers
NHL: New Jersey Devils. Not really sure why, though...
And my #1 most hated team overall....UNC. (I'm sure Duke will be on many of your lists :) )

A Clemson Tigers fan has UGA as the most hated football team?
Interesting…
by get swoll yunel on Sep 9, 2009 3:01 PM EDT up reply actions
I am not crazy about the Tigers but I root for them
I just happened to know a lot of UGA fans and with that brings the hate.
besides which
Clemson vs UGA is actually a pretty good rivalry, that for some reason has not been played the last few years. I’d love to see the teams bring that back. The schools are only seperated by like 90 miles or something, (prolly less but I"m guesstimating here)
I understand the Clemson-Georgia rivalry as well, and I also wish they would play more frequently… but it is rare in my experience to find any Clemson fans who hate UGA more than any other team out there.
Clemson-USC (east) typically has much more vitriol behind it (at least from the people I’ve met) and neither of those schools is in the top 3 rivalries for UGA.

yeah, I live near Clemson, and most of their fans seem to hate the ‘Cocks more than the ’Dawgs. Although I usually take a good ribbing from friends when my ’Dawgs lose. But I do the same to them. One thing I find, tho, is that most of the Tiger fans I’ve seen seem to be fair-weather fans. At the beginning of the season, they’re like, “Going all the way, Dabo is the man, CJ will run over everybody.” Then, lose 1 game, and its “Dabo needs to go, CJ runs side to side too much, etc”. Drives me nuts. For instance, last year, they were all like, Cullen Harper needs to sit down and let the Savior Willy Korn play. Before the season even started. Now in their defense, Harper struggled all year. But this year, all I’ve heard is Korn isn’t what they need, he sucks, lets play Kyle Parker. Just seems like nothing is ever good enough. But IDK, there’s prolly fans like that for every team, I just see more from Tiger fans b/c of where I live.
Over/under on 17 points being scored total in the game?

Good idea! There’s plenty of my hate to spread around. Lets see….
MLB: Phillies, mainly due to their fans, but I’m sure if the Mets were winning they would be intolerable. So both of them, but Philly more. I also hate the Red Sox and Yankees due to the signal to noise ratio of all the garbage that’s put out by those teams and the ones who follow them.
NFL: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants. Comes with being a Skins fan. If I had to choose one, I’d say Eagles though. Patriots are insufferable right now, but I don’t know if I hate them yet.
NBA: Lakers and Pistons, I guess.
NHL: I can’t get enough gumption to hate a Hockey team, but if I did, probably the Red Wings.
NCAAF: Oh god. Miami and WVU are #1 and #1 on the shit list. Georgia Tech for thinking they’re the real ‘Tech’. ND. Florida and USC for jealous hate. A special circle of hell is reserved for Bobby Bowden and Bobby Petrino. UVA is too pathetic to hate (LOL William and Mary).
I think that about covers it. I save a lot of my passion for college football. :)
Are you serious?
And how is Georgia Tech not the “real” Tech? Simply because you guys have won the last few games against us? Not really.
Let’s see, our FOUR national titles to your zero (and during the last championship season, we also won against you guys).
While you guys are known for hosting the gentlemen-like Vick brothers and MEangelo Hall, we have, well, no one on that level whatsoever.
Our greatest coach has the highest award in college football named after him, and he also pretty much helped invent the forward pass, direct snap, and other early football innovations, while your greatest coach is still on the team and pretty much hasn’t done anything nearly as cool as say, winning even a National Title yet.
The list could go on and on. You guys definitely have a good team, but come on, win a National Title before claiming to be the best Tech…….that’s just ridiculous

Nascar – Dale, Jr

Living in Northern Cali, this is hilarious!!
People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.
Yeah, the poor "Warrirors" have had 2-3 good seasons in the last 20
Interesting side note—when I worked at a hotel in Napa Valley, the (former?) owner used to bring his family, and I brought their luggage to their rooms once or twice. My brush with fame and fortune.

I don't really hate any NBA team
Mostly because I don’t care about the NBA enough to have a team I really dislike. Individual players on the other hand make for a different story – I used to really root for Patrick Ewing, but they seemed to always get foiled by Reggie Miller and the Pacers, so I didn’t like the Pacers. But now Miller’s retired, and I couldn’t care less.
I guess I say Warriors because I don’t like Stephen Jackson, and his out of his head performance against the Mavericks in the playoffs a few years ago bothered me, because I often considered the 1994 Denver Nuggets to be the greatest upset in the NBA playoffs, and the Warriors kind of took those honors, because they were in a best of seven instead of five. It’s a stretch, but sure. Eff the Warriors.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I used to hate Ewing as a player cause he always took like 9 steps after picking up his dribble, but a few years back I went to a Hawks-Rockets game down in Atlanta and ended up in the 2nd row behind the benches and he looked over and gave me a thumbs up, so we’re cool now.

1) The Yankees
These guys just mess things up for everyone else with the way they throw their moey around. $500 MILLION on THREE players in the offseason??? They just make it impossible for everyone else to try and fill a key slot. No wonder a lot of teams just flat out refuse to deal with them.
2) The Cowboys
I hate teams that showboat and no team does this more than the Cowboys. Football season begins for me when these guys are eliminated from the playoffs.
3) The Lakers
The NBA is rigged, period. You never saw a league show so much favoritism towards a team. Why don’t they just award them a trophy every year and let everyone else play for second place, or better yet, forget the season and just have Kobe & LeBron play knockout?
4) The Flyers
Biggest cheap shot artists in sports.
College football and basketball? I can’t stand ’em. Multi-billion dollar industry and everyone has a coronary when a kid gets a pair of sneakers, or worse, signs out of high school and avoids college altogether. A kid could play for a team for four years then get an injury in his last game and he goes from being a multimillionaire to being lucky to get a McJob for the rest of his life.
At least college hoops has a tournament, college football exists so the assorted idiots on sports talk radio can have something to argue about. In fact they don’t even need to play any games, just have the so-called “experts” pick out a few teams and they can play the football version of strat-o-matic to determine the winner.
NASCAR? That’s not a damn sport. Just a bunch of rednecks turning left.
couldnt agree more about NASCAR
“Alright Billy Joe, big race today!”
“What should I expect, Crew Chief?”
“Well, you’re gonna make a left. And then you’re gonna make another left. And another left. And then…make another left!”
“For how long?”
“500 miles. If you gotta piss, go in this bottle…but dont forget your 4 turns!”
And yeah, thats all NASCAR is.

Matt Diaz flipping rules.
...>_>
I don’t really know how to explain it. There’s alot of strategy involved-pitting time, tires, fuel strategy. 43 cars that looks identical can be running completely different. You have your driver that you follow, sometimes it helps to have more than one if your driver wrecks out. Its a ton of fun to go to. I just get sick of the ignorant comments saying its redencks making left turns, when the most dominant driver is from California, they just had a race in Montreal, and the best drivers in other racing circuits come to nascar and have trouble finding success.

No, because everyone else is so bad…and we didn’t look horrible in the 1st half – Wofford only scored once. After that, our D was solid.

I think Duke is seen outside Durham almost like the Yankees are outside NY. They’re a bunch of preppy, above-average intelligent, predominantly white guys with a lot of success yearly (except, you know, in March lately) who are always being shown on ESPN. Not to mention Coach K is a divisive figure…you either love him or you hate him.
But really, there’s nothing to hate about them other than their success. There’s never been a recruiting scandal, their academic standards are higher than at many other programs yet there has never been a cheating scandal, and so on. The worst thing I can think about in the past several years was when JJ was caught hanging out with people who were smoking weed and his DUI prior to the draft. They’re still college kids, though.
I've said it before
Hate and respect in sports tend to go hand-in-hand. Dook is an easy target to dislike, for all of the above mentioned reasons. Coach K is also a media/player manipulator, but he runs a tight ship, and at least while they’re in college, they’re all good basketball players. There’s a reason why so many Dookies vanish into obscurity in the NBA.^
There are also a lot of reasons that aren’t necessarily Dook’s fault, but it can’t be helped – ESPN’s hard-on for Dook, Dick Vitale’s incessant gushing about Dook (“I root for the home team” before showing up in Blacksburg wearing Dook crap)
^Smart move by Greg Paulus to avoid obscurity by going to grad school at Syracuse and playing more college sports, where he can rake in college women for four more years, and still get one television from time to time. Also, his first Syracuse game’s highlight reel should’ve been to the Benny Hill theme. I haven’t seen such a bad scrambling red-zone interception since Michael Vick.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I definitely agree with you on the succes/hate thing.
Though I think the “dookies vanish into obscurity in the NBA”, while popular, isn’t such a valid criticism anymore. Let’s see…Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand, Luol Deng, Corey Maggette, Shane Battier, Mike Dunleavy are all starters and a few of them stars/borderline stars. Grant Hill would be a lock for the HOF if not for his injuries. Chris Duhon and JJ Redick are significant role players (and I think Duhon was a starter for at least part of the year last year). I believe there are more Dukies currently in the NBA than any other school, and most are at least relevant.
Compare this to UNC, who had the glory days of Vince Carter and Rasheed Wallace (not to mention that Jordan guy long ago), but since then has produced Sean May, Joe Forte, Raymond Felton(who’s okay), Rashad McCants, Marvin Williams (huge bust so far), and so on.
There’s no argument that UNC has been the better team for the past 5 years or so. But they haven’t had the better pros since the 90s.
I'll defer to those facts
Mostly because I don’t follow the NBA enough as much as I used to (although I recall seeing a little while ago about how Georgetown had the most, could’ve been dated), to rebut the number of Dooks in the NBA, but I could’ve sworn reading about how big of a headache Redick was, because he wasn’t getting enough PT. I do, however, recall an interesting article about Battier and the “Moneyball of NBA.”
Also interesting is the sheer obviousness that the mostly white shooting stalwarts of Dook rarely make it pro; Redick may have gotten in, but you’d never have seen guys like WoJo, no matter how effective they were in college. Unless he wants to be the next Steve Kerr, I can’t see a guy like Scheyer going pro, and going back to Paulus, he did the smart thing of going where he was wanted, as opposed to not making the NBA.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
True enough. Not that he was a “shooting stalwart”, but that reminds me of Josh McRoberts, who was terrible as a sophomore…I’m not sure why he thought he’d be remotely good in the pros. I don’t think Scheyer is big enough nor athletic enough to be good at the next level, but I think Kyle Singler will be a solid player in the NBA.
I’ll give you Boozer, Deng, Battier and half of Hill…other than that, you have no special players on that list. The fact that you included Dunleavy makes me laugh.

Elton Brand? He’s averaged 20 pts, 10 rbs per game over his entire career. The 76ers felt he was worth $80 million.
As for Dunleavy, he was hurt almost all of last year. In his last full season, he averaged 19 pts, 5 rebs per game. He’s averaged in the mid double-figures his whole career except his rookie season. I never said he was a superstar…just a starter and relevant player in the league.
Compare this to Rashad McCants, who barely averages in the double figures (10.3 last year) with only 2 rebs per game. Heck, he’s only gotten into 58 games the past 2 seasons combined. Or Sean May (8.5 ppg over his career, just 3.9 ppg last year…only played in 82 games his whole career).
Anyway, Dunleavy is far more “relevant” than either of these guys, which was my whole point to begin with.
yes, because McCants and May are the only two UNC guys to play in the NBA in the past 10 years.

Sorry, you’ll have to point to where I said that…
Let’s take this back to the beginning. Someone said that Dukies disappear in the NBA. I then gave examples of Duke players doing decently to well in the NBA recently, and examples where UNC players haven’t (since UNC fans love to make that argument), almost at all since the Carter-‘Sheed era. You then made a comment how me including Dunleavy in there was laughable. My rebuttal centered around his stats (showing that he’s better than people think), followed by two examples of UNC players that I gave earlier who were not as good. So I’m not really sure what your point is or what exactly in my argument you’re refuting…
Anyway, that’s it for me. Time to get some work done.
But, you ignored UNC alumns such as Raymond Felton, Antwan Jamison, Vince Carter, Marvin Williams, and Brandon Wright, who are all putting up decent numbers. Heck, even Sean May (when healthy, like your argument for Grant Hill), puts up decent numbers.
But if you want your Mike Dunleavys and your JJ Reddicks and your Jay Williams, go ahead and take them. I’ll take the guys who win NCAA championships and go on to have decent NBA careers over guys who cannot deliver NCAA Tourney wins and put up decent NBA numbers.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
haha
Nah, he didn’t scare me. I just need to get work done (I’m still at work) if I want to get some sleep tonight.
So why am I back here you ask? Clearly, you are all irresistible. UNC fans included.

Actually
I think I hate the team of Inside the NFL on SHOWTIME, most. Good Pujols, are those graphics on the sides are distracting, and hideous. Sometimes, I wish this were still the spam-free days of old TC.

but u can’t hate Chris Collinsworth… he’s actually a good anouncer (which is really rare)
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?
by fatazfoot on Jan 7, 2009 8:59 PM EST
Really? Cause I hate him. He’s awful. In fact, he ruined Madden for me by being on it and being just as annoying in the game as in life.

Collinsworth is a snarky little whiteboy that destroyed Madden and makes me wonder how he was ever a successful wide receiver for the bungles (one of my most hated football teams)

MLB – How can anyone like the Evil Empire that is the Yanks. I love how they try to buy a championship and most of the time it doesn’t work out. Mets and Phillies are up there as well.
NFL – Philadelphia Eagles (fans are dicks for the most part) and the Raiders (just because they have one of the worst owners)
NBA – Lakers (Kobe is a bitch).
NCAAF – Don’t like college football period. The college football worshipping that goes on in the south is kinda creepy.
NCAAB – Purdue I guess since they are my sworn enemy (but I don’t really hate them).
Golf – it’s not a sport people.
Soccer – don’t like soccer, but I hear it’s big in other countries.
+1 on the Spurrier comment!

At least he’s stuck spinning his tires in SC, where he’ll never have the recruiting to do anything significant.

MLB: Skankees; duh. Cubs fans. Phillies (mostly Utley and the devil Victorino).
NFL: anyone
NBA, NCAAB, NASCAR: everyone
NCAAF: I really don’t care, but as a kid hated Clemson. To this day, I don’t own anything orange.
Good call on Clemson, I forgot about them!

MLB: When I was a kid, it was the Yankees, for stealing our thunder, but nowadays, I’d have to say the Phillies.
NCAAF: Gators, big time.
NASCAR: Everybody.

MLB – Yankees, Phillies, Mets
NBA – Lakers
NFL – Patriots, Cowboys
NCAAB – Duke, Florida
NCAAF – Florida douchebag Gators, Alabama, Georgia (practice what you preach Richt! Maybe keep a couple of players out of jail once in a while), South Carolina because of their delusional, never won nothing, ignorant fans.
Nascar — Kyle Busch — can’t help it, I just hate this guy.
PGA — Lefty — I guess I don’t hate the guy anymore because his family is having a tough go of it but I still am never gonna pull for him to win.
I hate to be “that guy” and defend my alma mater against all the haterade… but Georgia didn’t have a single player arrested in the last year. And even if that wasn’t the case, Richt is supposed to be able to control the every action of 85+ 18-22 year-olds living in a great college town?
Get real.

Wrong!
Brandon Wood and Vince Vance were arrested late last October so……. I believe that is within the last year. But seriously, I don’t really blame Richt. I was just having some fun at Georgia’s expense. The program had a real problem with discipline in 2007 and 2008. And every once in a while Richt climbs all over my nerves…especially when he uses his faith as a recruiting tool against other coaches……that’s uncalled for and kind of hypocritical in my opinion…..especially when your program has more arrests than anybody but Florida over a two year period.
If you went to USC, then yes. ;)
I kid. But I’ve found that calling other fan bases delusional, especially college sport fans, is rather pointless. Most are college students, who are inherently raging homers for their team.

MLB – Cardinals (their fans are obnoxious as hell – most don’t know the first thing about baseball but show up in their red cult clothes and act like every game is the 7th game of the World Series), Yankees, Red Sox, Mets
NFL – Broncos, Chiefs
NBA – don’t care about overpaid thugs playing a street game
NHL – it’s one step above soccer
the Cardinalls fans are actually some of the best in baseball. They are very knowledgable… if you know a couple of Cards fans are idiots… every fanbase has those…. so its not fair to characterize an entire fan base the way you do, when your opinion drastically contradicts that of just about everyone else.
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?
by fatazfoot on Jan 7, 2009 8:59 PM EST
I live right in the middle of Cardinal territory, so I know what I’m talking about. The reputation of Cardinal fans may be what you say, but the facts are far from the reputation. Most have no idea about baseball as a whole – they know the Cardinals and any player on their team has no past or future, just a present. They also think the Cubs are the worst team in baseball, no matter the talent level. It’s a ridiculous fan base. The only positive thing I will say is they show up at the ballpark in droves. Hence, my cult comment.
I grew up on the North Side of Chicago, and was a White Sox fan (still am), so I hate the Cubs with a burning passion. They’ve had some great players (Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Billy Williams, Ferguson Jenkins et al.), but I despise their fans and their ballpark is an utter disgrace. The DAP in Durham was better than Wrigley Field. A close second is the Yankees, who were on NBC’s Game of the Week seemingly every week when I was a kid and whose fans would infiltrate Comiskey Park whenever they’d come to town, kind of like Cub fans do everywhere. And I’m really developing a dislike for the Red Sox, only because the drooling morons on ESPN love them so dearly…
Baseball’s really the only sport I care about, so I don’t have an opinion about any of the others.
What does it say about us that the Most Hated thread has almost twice as many comments as the Favorite Teams thread?
