Around SBN: Tottenham's Plans for Northumberland Stadium Approved

The Atlanta Braves and ARAMARK, the exclusive food and beverage provider at Turner Field, have announced the opening of a dedicated gluten-free* concession stand for fans with Celiac Disease. The location opens Friday, Sept. 4, behind Section 106, and will feature all-beef franks, sirloin beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, chips, popcorn, brownies, cookies, soda, water and gluten-free RedBridge beer.

Damn you GLUTEN
I guess if you're gluten-intolerant (is that right) then this is pretty exciting news. I have a constant fear that one day I'll be limited to what I can eat. Right now I pretty much devour anything and everything I can get my hands on. Perhaps limiting my options wouldn't be a bad thing, though.

Celiac Disease

is a serious condition. basically the “allergy” kills off the lining of the intestines, robbing the body of its ability to take in nutrients.

it’s ironic, actually, as taking in nutrients (whole wheat bread, etc.) causes the body to not be able to take in nutrients.

While we're on the subject

what’s the best food at Turner Field? Personally, I think the cheese pizza is phenomenal. Simple and boring choice at a ballpark, but for cheese pizza it’s pretty damn good.

i enjoyed my Georgia Dog last week, but it was $7. It had vidalia onion relish and coleslaw. Definitely pricy for a hot dog, but it was better than the generic ones at the other stands. They sold it a specialty hot dog stand in the 200 sections on first base side.

I second the Georgia dog. Always my choice when going to the Ted

Great Chili Cheese Fries, too

That entire stand in the low 200s section has great specialty hot dogs, but the Chili cheese fries, if you don’t mind spending some time on the John Rocker in the middle of the night, are some of the best ever.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I usually get a lemon ice at the stand.

for the most part, I try to avoid paying the exorbitant food prices

I agree

Often times, I’ll stop by one of the many Willy’s locations, and pick up a burrito – if I’m going to shell out $7 for something, it’d better not be a hot dog. Since Turner Field’s cool like that and lets you bring in your own food, it rotates between Willy’s, Five Guys or Taco Bell, since the one next door to the Ted “tragically” burned down.

Ditto

I also bring my own food & drink in. That’s one of the reasons I haven’t been to a Gwinnett game – you can’t do that. It’s more economically feasible for me to go to an Atlanta game. That way I can still afford my otherwise lavish lifestyle and bling for my boy-toys.
Day at the Ted:
parking: free
ticket: $1 (and you know I never sit there :))
sustenance: $1-3 from the grocery store, plus my free designated driver small soda

Day at Gwinnett:
parking: $3
ticket: $6-15
sustenance: really N/A, I flat refuse to pay that much.
…and I already paid into the taxes that helped build it.
I’ll go one of these days, but it’s just hard to cost justify it right now.

If you don’t mind sitting in the restaurant area (I think it’s pretty sweet, actually, if you can get a seat near the fence, facing the field), the pizza at the Chop House is really, really good, and, IMO, the best deal in terms of filling you up. It’s about 10 bucks for a whole pizza, but it’s really high quality (stone oven style) and definately enough to share.

One of my friends has this and it’s a real pain in the ass. We have to be careful when we all go out, cause there are lot of places she can’t eat. I guess now I’ll just say, how about we pop on down to Atlanta and catch a game.

Nice consideration.

I’ll try to remember to take pics of the prices on Friday or Sunday, and post them in the game recap.
