Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll
If it's Friday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. This poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

Greg Norton’s still on the bench, so it can’t be a 10.

…as I have for weeks. With the 7 game run, sweep of the Mets, and passing the Fish in the standings, wonder how big of a swing in the overall results there will be this week?

yup. Same here…I’ve been a 7 or 8 all season long.
I too am curious to see the swing in the pendulum now that we are on a hot streak.
I bet this thing goes from 49% to over 60%

6
which is up from my 4…still, that’s not all that confident. I expect a minor shift in confidence, justin, but I don’t think near 50 to (I think it will end up slightly below 60) is too drastic of a shift.
I LOVE the way we’re playing, especially without Chipper. My confidence isn’t based on the ability of this team, it’s based on how possible it is to make it to the postseason. If I’m grading the talent/ability of this team, it’s an 8 or 9. But right now my vote is solely on postseason potential, and while we’re coming with the awesome right now, it’s still going to take the sports-equivalent of a miracle to make it to October baseball.

I will bet $50 bucks that this poll will be higher than 58%.
Also:

Voting on the team’s chances at the post-season isn’t part of the equation. Maybe we should do a seperate poll as not to skew the results of what this poll was intended for.

semantics.
You’d bet $50 bucks? as in “fifty dollars bucks?”
I doubt many of us think of ALL those things when coming up with our own, personal votes. If the editors want to FORCE those thoughts into our heads, they should implement a multi-faceted poll, polling all of those factors and averaging the score. Which, I wouldn’t mind and think may be a more accurate representation, which would be to your point. Until then, I’ll vote how I feel inclined, if you don’t mind.

Fifty American dollars. I will use Paypal. If this poll is any lower than 58.1%, you will be fifty American dollars richer.
Deal?

Staring at Howie Mandel,
I will close the acrylic near-cube over the red button and say…
no deal!
You may end up being right, and that’s fine with me, but my point is I don’t think 60% is too huge a swing from near-50%, is all. We just have a slight difference of opinion on what a big swing is. As a math teacher, a 49 is pretty much as bad as a 60 when it comes to bad grades =/

I agree with you completely. The post season is not part of this poll. As I’ve said the past couple of weeks, my vote remains an 8 because while earlier in the season we were worried about being a .500 club, our worries became focused on the playoff race, which hasn’t been the case in a few seasons. I have a lot of confidence in Wren and in our farm system. We’re going to be a very competitive team in the upcoming seasons.
Voted a 5
All the long terms issues remain:
—General concerns—
1) No replacement for Chipper
2) Fire Bobby Cox
3) Power bat for next year
—- Short term concerns—-
4) General hitting issues with this team
5) We haven’t made up ground on Philly or Colorado
—Historical issues—
6) We haven’t made the playoffs in years
7) When we do we haven’t won the World Series (in short we don’t have a history of finishing well)
i’m happy people are clicking on 1.
I’ve been a 6 or 7 most of the year, but I went with a 7. The Braves have been playing inspired ball lately, but it might be a little late for that.
I do hope the Braves find a way to keep Javy and Hudson while getting a power bat. I’d be a 9 for sure if they did that. I’d even go up to a 10 when I see bobby go (only if his replacement is desirable…so no TP).
I've skipped voting in the last few polls, but today I raised my usual 6 to a 7.
My optimism lies mostly in my hopes for next year and our kick ass pitching staff. I want us to find a way, whatever it takes to keep JJ, Hanson, Hudson and Javy – all of them.
I don’t believe Chipper will stay in this slump into next year. I also believe we’ll find a way to produce more offense next year, whether that means our existing staff does better or Wrenn brings in some help.
My vote reflects a hopeful, excited fan that’s glad we’re ending this year on a positive note – no matter what the playoffs outcome will be.
The winning streak is only enough to make me vote 6. I need to see what Wren does in the offseason (which starting pitcher doesn’t come back, who manages, who gets signed to play first base, what do they do with Kelly, what do they do with the 6 or so possible outfielders) before I am ready to have confidence in the team for next year.

based on current never surrender gutsy play, FW’ s skill as GM & the teams improvement due to his player decision making, and the bright future that the minor league prospects bring to the table.
Voted 7
have been for a while, yes we have won 7 straight, including a sweep of the best NL team, but we still have a little ways to go. The organization on a whole is feeling pretty strong though, would have felt a little better if the G-Braves played a little better in the playoffs.
It’ll be interseting to see how much a seven game winning streak increases the “confidence” in the team.
"My God! Good news fans, the Braves are showing signs of life for the first time in weeks. As a matter of fact, they appear to be beating the crap out of each other."
as of 412 votes, we are at 69%…lol
a 20% increase from a week ago!

such is the nature of this poll…and a lot of the fans here – as the W-L goes for the week, so does the confidence poll.

Which just reiterates the rhetorical question I posed in my original post way back at the begining and your agreement…which lead to the discussion and the “bet!” LOL

10 games over .500 is the best we’ve been at all year, so I’m giving my best vote of the year – 8.
