If the Braves re-sing Tim Hudson at the end of the year we will have 6 starting pitchers. One will more than likely have to go. Here are the stats for the year of each starter. Who do you think should go?
Stat: Games Started, Innings Pitched, HR Allowed, BB, SO, W-L, ERA, WHIP
Jair Jurjiens: 30 GS, 186IP, 14HR, 66 BB, 133 SO, 11-10, 2.81 ERA, 1.24 WHIP
Tommy Hanson: 18 GS, 108.2 IP, 9 HR, 39 BB, 93 SO, 10-3, 2.65 ERA, 1.18 WHIP
Javy Vazquez: 29 GS, 197.1 IP, 18 HR, 40 BB, 216 SO, 13-9, 3.01 ERA, 1.05 WHIP
K. Kawakami: 25 GS, 142.2 IP, 15 HR, 53 BB, 98 SO, 7-10, 3.97 ERA, 1.35 WHIP
Tim Hudson: 3 GS, 17.1 IP, 0 HR, 5 BB, 12 SO, 1-0, 3.63 ERA, 1.44 WHIP
D. Lowe: 30 GS, 177 IP, 11 HR, 54 BB, 97 SO, 14-9, 4.47 ERA, 1.47 WHIP
In my personal opinion, I wouldn't mind seeing us get read of Derek Lowe. He will be 37 next year, we will have to pay him for 3 more years and he will be one of our highest paid players. I doubt there would be many takers for Lowe considering these facts, but he would be my vote. Kawakami has pitched better than Lowe, he just hasn't been the benefit (as most of the starters haven't) of the run support that Lowe has received. I think Jurjiens, Hanson, and Vazquez should be untouchables for us next season. They have been dominate this year and I'm sure they will be tough again next year. My top 3 to move would be:
1.) Lowe, 2.) Kawakami, 3.) Hudson
What do you guys think the Braves should do about this for next year (if they re-sign Hudson)?
