Stop the whining, Chipper
"From his name to his look to his sweet swinging, Jones defines "ballplayer" in every sense. But he's coming close to defining a whiner with all his talk about being old and sore."
The article goes on to say a bit more about wanting time off and Bobby not giving it to him. He's got a point. You get paid 13 mil, you play.

Give him a day off for chrissakes, he’s not helping being in the lineup. Good luck catching up to Josh Johnson’s fastball tonight.
If Dunn walks 30 fewer times, he'll drive in 15 more runs. This is thanks to the scientifically proven formula: RBI = (this is nonsense) (I made it all up).
Here's a stat: Wins as manager: Dusty Baker, 1,162; Bill James, 0.
Stan McNeil needs to just shut up.
"Actually, Justin was right."

I would agree that he shouldn't whine...
except that Chipper is right. He probably would play a lot better if he sat out a game or two. Haven’t yall noticed how he always gets hot right after he’s been out for a few days? He knows himself, and if he says he needs a day off, then give the guy a day off. It’s not like we’re going to be deprived of much the way he’s hitting right now.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." A. Bartlett Giamatti
No need to wonder why he’s been struggling. He’s said that it’s because he is tired from playing MORE GAMES THAN ANY OTHER BRAVES PLAYER THIS YEAR. I think he should know. He’s been around enough and knows his body well enough.
Anybody can say “You sign, you play.” But in this case manager Bobby Cox needs to MANAGE.
It appears...
most of us are in agreement on this one.
GIVE HIM A DAY OR TWO OFF, BOBBY!

I do agree...
…with the author of the article about one thing, though. Chipper is the perfect example of a baseball player. He looks like baseball should look, he plays like a baseball player should play, he talks like a baseball player should talk, and he has a perfect baseball player name.
