Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll

If it's Friday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. This poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

I had to drop down to 7 this week due to the team flopping vs the Padres, Bobby refusing to give Chipper a rest despite him begging for one in the media, and the probability that the Braves will miss the playoffs this year because Wren overpaid for Derek Lowe instead of using the money to sign one of the big free agent bats.

I had to ramp up to a 10 this week… to make up for all the emo kids.

Nice

If Albert played in the AFL, they’d have to rename it the AZ/NM Fall League, based on where his homers landed.

Why would someone vote 1?

Stupid ass trolls…they are everywhere. No poll is safe from them.

I went down to a 6 this week from a 7. Just not sure this team can make the playoffs. There are plenty of games, but there is no chance if they keep losing games they shouldn’t to the likes of the Padres.

The Braves could be scary good if they can reach the playoffs. Damn fine starting pitching.

Because

There is always someone who feels the need to Twelve Angry Men the polls so that nothing is unanimous. It doesn’t matter if it is a yes or no poll saying “Is murder okay?,” there will always be some jackass to say NO. I mean YES.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I had a teacher

in junior high who would not give anyone a 100 on test, because she said “nobody’s perfect”. We would have a spelling test, I would spell the words correctly, I would get a 99. We would have a test with 20 true or false question, I would get them all right, I would get a 99. I HATED that woman.

This probably has nothing to do with what you wrote, but I feel better.

Holding at an 8. It would be a 10, but team merchandise is too high.

Holding at 8…. The team is headed in the right direction. Our chances of making the playoffs are slim, but we’re only a couple pieces away from having a great team.

by mdhenshaw on Aug 28, 2009 12:58 PM EDT reply actions

I’m sticking with 8 also. At one point this season, all we were worried about was being a .500 club. Now we have a fighting chance to squeeze into the playoffs. I’m confident our FO will make good decisions for the team, and even if we don’t think they are good, they seem to have enough luck to turn out in our favor. I’m looking forward to the success we’ll have next season.

I’m hanging at 7. Their chances of making the playoffs are slimmer than last week, but they’re still a lot better than last year. Last year was just depressing. I’m anxious to see how Hudson does on Monday.

I voted an 8

Originally I was thinking 7. But then the Pitching Gods gave me a vision of Tommy Hanson dropping the ever loving hammer on the Phil’s tonight.

It might be a 9 by monday if we whoop them like I think we will.

We can’t afford to lose games like we did to the Padres – we can’t make the playoffs if we lose to last place teams. Then again, the Phillies DID lose to the Pirates, and the Rockies lost to the Dodgers too, so we’re still in the same spot we were. That being said, it’s crucial that we win these games against the Phillies. I’m excite to see how Tommy Hanson will do in such a crucial game tonight!! There’s still hope, but we have to keep winning series!! LETS GO BRAVES

by BigG1392 on Aug 28, 2009 3:08 PM EDT reply actions

Voted a 9

It sounds from that paragraph that this poll is measuring confidence in ATL long-term, not simply whether they make the playoffs or not (in all likelihood, the latter is going to be the case). Thus, I graded the team a 9, based on the up-and-coming guys in our system like Heyward and Freeman as well as the ones already on the MLB roster like Jurrjens and Hanson. Going into ‘09 (I’m not sure who’s up for FA after this year so bear with me), Atlanta will have one of the deepest rotations in the NL, really-good-but-not-great bats behind the plate and all around the infield, and possibly Heyward moving up to improve the OF hitting. I’d say Wren has done a good job taking over for Schuerholz (even though J.S. still probably has his hands on the puppet strings).

Moving forward, Atlanta’s going to get very good over the next 1-2 years at best, and stay stagnant at worst. The talent on the roster is too good for them to play 70-win ball anytime soon. Maybe I just have my biased goggles on…who knows.

Nyjer Morgan broke his hand. If you were about to vote 7, you can vote 8 now.

Then my confidence will go back up from a 6 to an 8 or 9

81 homers voted 10...

wow what are these people smolking? A 10? Really? Long term we aren’t even guarennted to get into the playoffs let along win the World Series

by taney71 on Aug 29, 2009 10:17 AM EDT reply actions

I’d rather that than the 87 idiots who voted 1-4.

besides, this poll isn’t about “how confident are you that the Braves will make the playoffs.”

It is “how confident are you in the organization as a whole, the FO, the farm team, the scouting and the players that they will produce a competitive team capable of winning”
