Jordan Schafer and Jason Heyward News?
I know Jordan Schafer was supposed to swing the bat on Monday, but does anyone know how that went and if he will be back on the field for the G-Braves anytime soon?
Also, Jason Heyward's average has been dropping as of late, do you think this will prohibit him from at least getting a call-up to Triple-A this season. I would really like to see him and Schafer finish out the last week or two in the outfield together in Triple-A, then hopefully both be healthy and ready for Opening Day 2010.

I hope Heyward gets a little “playoff” experience in AAA. Is Schafer eligible for the AFL with his major league experience? I’d really like to see him get more playing time before spring training. No news for you though.
If Dunn walks 30 fewer times, he'll drive in 15 more runs. This is thanks to the scientifically proven formula: RBI = (this is nonsense) (I made it all up).
Here's a stat: Wins as manager: Dusty Baker, 1,162; Bill James, 0.

Even if he's not eligible for the AFL...
He can still play winter ball.

I can't remember the source
But it sounds like he’s going to forego the rest of the year to heal the “sprain or a tear?” wrist problem, and aspire to get some ABs and conditioning in winter ball…
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Schafer just needs to worry about getting that wrist healthy. I hope he is ready to be our opening day CF next year, but there is no reason we should be rushing to get him back this year

My question is
If we make the playoffs, and Schafer could be ready to play by then, would you rather leave him out or bring him as a 5th outfielder? At the very least, he’d bring great value as a defensive replacement.

absolutely not…. i want him to spend as much time gettin his wrist right so he is ready to start next year in AAA (ya thats right AAA, so he can learn to hit lefties a little bit)
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?

You have to give him credit
He did win the starting gig in ST this year, only to struggle after the first couple weeks of the season, and if his wrist is healthy I don’t see why he may not start the season in the majors next year. He might make a decent left fielder to platoon with Diaz or something (assuming McLouth is locked in at CF).
The consensus seems to be the he was called up too soon, which is probably true, but I think he would have had an easier time with a healthy wrist. And I can’t blame the guy for downplaying it and trying to play through it after he had JUST made the majors.

NO. if schafer makes the team he plays CF… he is the superior defender when compared with McLouth (who is a below avg CF)….
I dont blame Schafer for any of his struggles he did the same thing I would have done… been a stubborn ass, not tell anyone he was injured and keep trying to plya everyday…Unfortunately he was hurt and he was overmatched… its hard to tell whether his struggles were more attributable to his wrist or being overmatched… But considering he hasnt hit consistently since late Jun early July (i think), he needs to get some ABs to get some consistency back in his game… hopefully he can get those in winter ball.
I wouldnt want Jordan to struggle again to start the year and put us in a hole tht we have to work out of… like we are doing now (although obviously he isnt the sole person to blame for our early struggles)

he wasn’t even a good defensive centerfielder in his stay in atl so he should definitely be in AAA

im gonna guess those nbrs are the exception to the rule that he is a good CF…but thats me trying to prove my bias
