"With the anticipated addition of Tim Hudson in the near future, we have not pursued John Smoltz," [Atlanta Braves General Manager Frank Wren] said in a text message Monday.

Mark Bowman also echoed that statement from his Braves sources.

Hmm
looks like Smoltzy’s only chance to join the Bravos again is if he wants to come as an instructor or pitching coach. I never thought i’d see the day.

Medlen has been dealing nicely lately. Wonder why we don’t use him more and rest Soriano and Moylan a little bit more.
No real point in going after Smoltz. No hard feeling from me though on how he left. I’d have them if the Braves brought him back at the salary the Red Sox paid him.
not this season, there’s no other arm that would pitch as well out of the pen and it’s not like 3-4 starts at AAA is really going to change anything. He’s not going to be starting next year so there’s no real concern with that

Logan and Medlen need more innings and Soriano, Moylan and Gonzo need more rest.
