is there video of the "Shoe-shine pitch"
i love reading about the 57 m-braves but therre is a crazy story of how they didnt loose game 3 to the yankees because a guy was supposed to be out but he grabbed the ball and showed the ump the shoeshine mark on the ball from his freshly polished shoes and the ump awared him first base and we won the game... my dad listened to it on the radio and i have never been able to find video of this-- it was 1957 the world series was on tv nationally by that point i cant believe it would be that hard to find video of it but if anyone has ever seen it or knows where i can find it say something please... and if you dont know the story i suggest you look it up it'll blow your mind

If there is, it would probably be pretty disappointing. The old World Series videos like that for the most part aren’t known for their acute detail (as the MLB Network could show you pretty much any early-afternoon of the week). While there’s no doubt footage of it somewhere, I doubt it would have anywhere near the close-ups and analysis that it would have if it happened more recently. The technology wasn’t yet in place to provide that sort of scrutiny, so there’s probably just one or two relatively far away shots with a radio announcer fast-talking over it and some pumped in crowd noise. Cool story though.

Do players still have their shoes shined?
If Dunn walks 30 fewer times, he'll drive in 15 more runs. This is thanks to the scientifically proven formula: RBI = (this is nonsense) (I made it all up).
Here's a stat: Wins as manager: Dusty Baker, 1,162; Bill James, 0.

Interesting that this came up...
the other night I was noting how shiny Gonzo’s are when he’s warming up in the pen.

Sounds more like the ’69 Series, when Cleon Jones said he was hit but the ump said no, then Gil Hodges came out with a ball with shoe polish on it and showed it to the ump.
I sincerely doubt there’s any footage from the ’57 series that would show that, if it happened then…

what do you mean if it happend? ask any braves old enough to remember the 57 series and they will most definatley tell you that it happend....
just google the name nippy jones—— bottom of the tenth inning runner on first braves down 1 game to 0 against the yanks and nippy jones gets awarded first base as he showed the ump the black scuffed ball…. i

From his Wikipedia
1957 World Series
Jones is best remembered for what happened in Game 4 of the 1957 World Series. He was with the Braves, at bat in a key situation. He jumped back from a low pitch, and the umpire called a ball. He protested that it had hit his foot, a shoe polish mark proved it, and he was awarded first base. Braves slugger Eddie Mathews would proceed to win the game with a two-run home run, giving the Braves the victory in game 4. They would win the series in 7 games.
