DOB says something is afoot
An hour long meeting between Bobby and Frank, eh? I don't think it would have taken then an hour to decide to DL KJ and call up Conrad.
DOB's speculation is that Vazquez could be dealt(for an impact bat we would control for longer than just this year), or that Yunel is close to being moved.

Don't trade Vazquez
I hope Bobby was talking some sence into Frank. We have the best strength in baseball “Starting Pitching”, and that’s how you win world series.

But you get there by having hitting.
Do you not remember all of those 90-win teams that couldn’t even win a series because they got shut down on offense in the NLDS?

Did the front office not realize we've won 4 straight?
Let’s see how we do with mclouth in there tonight before we trade our best pitcher for a bat.

We absolutely cannot trade Escobar. He’s a clutch hitter and has astounding defensive prowess, is young and under team control. Who’s gonna be our SS? Martin Prado? o wate. We better get Albert fucking Pujols in return if we trade him.
by Facestealer on Jul 3, 2009 5:07 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yes, awesome idea.
We’re definitely going to get the best hitter in baseball for an SS who plays with his head up his ass half the time.

Javy has been our best pitcher and Esco has been awesome with runners in scoring position. Why would the Braves even Discuss this. Trade Lowe, or Frenchy but not two of our best players.

Lowe has negative trade value at present because of his contract. So he’s not going anywhere.
Q: If on-base pct is so important then why don't they put it on the scoreboard? -Failcoeur
A: Because the Braves don't want to show their fans how bad you suck.

eat some of it then lol
i mean i would hate to trade Javy

Yes, because this team definitely has the money to pay for players who aren't even members of the team.

Uhh...
You can’t trade shitty players and get anything worthwhile back.

It better have been a meeting about starting Diaz in RF…

Ehhhh i don see Wren tradin Esco or Vaz. I dont see us gettin too much of an improvement in a trade of Esco. And if we trade our best pitcher for a hitter all we are doin is strengthening one area while weakening the pitching. Thats not too smart in my opinion. If they wanna do the trade in the offseason then fine but not now. And dont give me the well we have alot of depth there. Well that depth can also go down like flies as well. You can NEVER have too much pitching. And this so happens to have been our best starter for the year, you cant replace that.

Jayson Stark of ESPN quoted sources today saying that there is no way the Braves trade Escobar since he’s still so cheap and productive despite the drama. Hey, he’s no Deion. Stark also said that the Braves are desperately trying to unload the right fielder but no one wanted him.

I'd like to think
that Francoeur is on the verge of a demotion, and that’s what the meeting was about.
by Bronn on Jul 3, 2009 10:52 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think...
…this sounds more likely. Bobby has pitch-hit for him late two nights in a row. If they do something with him now, while the Braves are on a roll, and with the fact that he’s hit a tiny bit better lately, oh the drama that will ensue!

At the very least...
With the lefty starters we’re facing, Bobby will be platooning Francoeur with Blanco. We can only hope…
by award6 on Jul 4, 2009 11:13 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I can accept this. Blanco was slapping the ball around pretty well. That would allow us to move McClouth down in the order, since he has more pop.
Blanco
Prado
Chipper
McCann
Escobar
McClouth
Anderson
Kotchman
I really like this lineup

If a pitcher has to go let it be KK and his translator
That would have to save the team some big bucks, plus KK has not been as great of a pitcher as I was expecting.
Maybe my expectations were just too high!

what the heck?
Were you expecting Santana numbers? over the last month KK has been better than Lowe

It would?
He’s the lowest-priced vet in our rotation.

Whatever the case..
i smell a trade in the air, friend of mine works for Huntsville Stars(brewers affiliate) , says through the office grapevine, the braves have been in contact with them(brewers organization)..the only thing i know the brewers are missing in this piece of the puzzle is starting pitching, although their SP has been good enough to win..I know from seeing a few games, the stars have a 3rd baseman that is a chipper jones clone..but what would the braves want from the brewers? Corey Hart??
by SidKotchman on Jul 4, 2009 9:15 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
guys a pretty reliable source too..
so i don’t question stuff he tells me..maybe the rumour is true the braves are trying to move frency to ANYBODY lol.

Which 3B are you talking about?
Taylor Green seems to be a good hitter, and has been everywhere since his rookie year.

The Brewers are....
an ideal team for the Bravos to make a deal with. A simple Escobar for Hardy swap could take care of the dissention within the clubhouse issue, although we give up the better player. Their need for one of our front line starters could bolster their chances in a big way. The pieces for a big trade are certainly there with chips like Hart, Gamel and even Fielder on the Brewers side, and our big chips being Javy, whom I love, Shaffer, Frenchy,Kotchman, and Jo Jo and /or Medlen, though I think he might be a nice touch to replace Sorianno. Just dreaming here, and not thinking contracts, but the Brewers have what we need and we match their needs.

Hypocritical remark ......

It is fine to disagree, but don’t make it personal.

Actually
You said KK was not as great as you had expected. I pointed out that the guy is making Half as much as Lowe and in the last month had HALF of Lowe’s ERA.
Lowe had his good games but he also had his horrible games giving up 6 and 7 runs.
In fact KK actually had a lower ERA than Lowe in May as well.
I mean there arent very many pitchers putting up those kinds of numbers in the league making only 6. ?? mil

Well
The Braves and Brewers do match up very well at this moment.
HOWEVER
I still dont wanna give up Javy.
by drumzalicious on Jul 4, 2009 2:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
If we give up Javy, We better get Prince Fielder or Ryan Braun in return.

Fortunately...
You’re not a GM, so it probably won’t take a ridiculous offer to give up a player who’s pitching way over his head and improve this team.
