Game 98 Recap: Braves 0, Brewers 4
Tommy Hanson was good, quality start good, but he was not as good as Yovani Gallardo, who shut the Braves out through seven and a third innings. The Brewers bullpen held on to keep the Braves scoreless on the night. After a season-high 17 hits last night, the Braves only manged 4 hits tonight.
I swear that every hit the Brewers had except for the Ryan Braun double was either a seeing-eye single through the infield or a bloop over the heads of the infielders -- one of those helpless games where you make the right pitches and get the hitter bailing out, but the ball finds a hole.
Oh well, we still have a chance to win the series tomorrow.

Just wasn’t our night tonight. I kinda had a feeling when Prince caught Casey’s line drive while falling over and then touching 1st.
Oh well, hopefully DLowe is on tomorrow.

One of those games that feels like a punch to the gut. Hopefully the Braves get one tomorrow, and leave the Baby Crackers behind.

And despite Norton’s hit last night, I would have much rather seen Kelly, or Connie up there tonite in that spot. I’m not sure about Bobby’s infatuation with Norton either. Norton has his moments, but not many of them.

Get it Mac. I love Brian McCann. He is the man. His parents are great, too.

Funny thing is
I can’t remember the last time the Braves won a game when wearing one of the special occasion uniforms like today’s Negro League remembrance or the old school Aaron-era Braves jerseys.
This loss wasn’t too painful – plain and simple, the Braves got shut down by a good young solid pitcher. Gallardo kept the damage minimal, and even helped his own cause to boot. So often we like to throw around the so-and-so FAILED to deliver the RISP, but sometimes it’s just a combination of partially that sure, but the opposing pitcher just getting his pitches right and keeping everyone off balance.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
We never win in the throwback uniforms. I dread these games.

I know the players don't like wearing those uniforms....
…but I like seeing them in them. I thought Tommy looked especially good in his. The picture above is great.

Hanson a Loser ??? My good dump him LOL/IMAO !!!
Hey it was going to happen sooner or later, we are still in great shape just ran into a good young arm in Galllardo; we will win the series tomorrow an still be fine in the wild-card race which is what most Braves fans should be paying attention to.

Yeah, the “CB effect” kills us every time
I admit I enjoyed that foul ball to his mask more than I should have.

The bastard wasn’t giving any corners…….and O’F would pitch two balls, and then a strike, but he called the third pitch a ball anyways. Most umps do that these days. Freaking retarded.

The only pitch on the corners he would call is Gallardo’s stupid curve.

Tip of the cap to Hanson.
Even though he got the loss, he still managed to hold them to 2 runs over 7 innings on dinky hits that found their way through – all while not feeling his best.
It was almost like Hanson hit their bats instead of them having great swings. They were able to bunt when needed (we really need to get better at this fundamental skill) and manufactured 2 runs that were enough.
We had men on base between the hits and walks, but couldn’t get them any further. It seems like anytime we have big scoring game like on Friday, the next day we’re less patient and tend to help the other team with outs in key situations.
All in all, allowing only 2 runs should be enough for a pitcher to get a win – but this is 2009 and our SPs know all about delivering a quality start with nothing to show for it.
Let’s get the Series today and pray that somebody, somewhere, somehow find a way to beat the dang Phillies. Or, let’s find out what they eat for breakfast and get some.

Personally, I think the only team that isn’t intimidated by the Phillies this year is the Braves.

Not that Hanson used it as an excuse or anything...
But, he’s still fighting the flu and according to the radio or tv broadcast, he lost 12 lbs in the last week. I kept up with most of the game by phone updates, but it still looked like a close game there for a while.
