Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll
If it's Friday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. This poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

I told myself I’d vote 10 if they traded Failcoeur for more than a dipping dots.
Other than that, Frank Wren has made some terrific moves over the past year. The pitching has been more than stellar. The hitting is finally coming around, and it doesn’t look like TP had anything to do with it, which doesn’t surprise me. I heard the announces mention someone else who’s been working with Prado and Yunel.
Bobby is senile; Bobby’s use of the bullpen is gonna come back to haunt us in the end and TP still sucks as a hitting coach.
I’d love it if we somehow were able to keep both JV and Hudson.
Yes, dear GOD yes!
Everybody knows that success in sport comes in spite of your coaching. Unless you’re not being successful. Then it’s all the fault of the coaching. Good call.

Welp, I’ve bumped my vote up to a seven. And why not? We’ve been playing good ball.
The reason I didn’t give a 8,9, or 10 is because of the apparent lack of depth in the minors and the fact that I still don’t trust the offense enough. But now that we’re back over .500 and almost swept a WC rival, this team has me much more optimistic than a couple weeks ago.
The one thing that is ridiculous…….we send down Conrad, and keep Norton? lmao. mkay.

Hitting aside, Conrad can also play defense. I don’t get it

sigh
I thought Bob was nuts about GAnderson…, so maybe Norton has a few hits left. But with the influx of talent we have, is there really going to be a spot for him after this year?
I like Conrad a whole lot, and I don’t like watching Norton consistently striking out. Not in the slightest.

My 6 is staying pat until I see if these past 2 weeks are an aberration or if they can sustain the good play we’ve seen through July. I’m thankful we’re 2 games above .500 finally but I really want us to maintain that and more before I’m willing to go higher.
Like Chief said above, that bonehead move (IMO) did nothing to boost my confidence in the logical thinking of Cox. His quote of staying with a “veteran” pinch hitter who has an average lower than some of our pitchers versus one who has been producing solidly and made the most of his call up – boggles my mind.
I’m hoping the road trip will make me feel confident enough to jump 2 spots to a 7 by August.

I’m trying to think ‘big picture’ in that we won 3/4 games in the series and had a great homestand. But it’s hard when umpire crews constantly seem to “miss” calls with the Braves. Impartial, my ass.

send Norton to the moon
Dropped from 8 to 7 based on sending down Conrad instead of DFAing Norton and also continuing to keep Hernandez on the major league roster instead of calling up Burke. These aren’t huge things but it’s going to be a close thing if the Braves win a playoff spot. They don’t have much margin for error. The several dozen worthless ABs by Norton and Hernandez the rest of the year could mean the difference between winning or lossing a decisive handful of games.
yeah

This is the most abitrary thing in thw world. The polls happen too often. So if you are looking based on th last week, well the Braves won 5/7 or 71.4%. And I’d say at least 50% of the organization is the team on the field. So as a base for the week everyone should put at least 3.5.
Then I’d say the farm is another 30% and with two prospects in the top 10 and nearly all our recent draft signings and guys like RSF, at the bottom, and great guys we just saw like Brooks Conrad at the top, you gotta give at least an 80%. So thats another 2.4 points everyone should give.
Then after that there is management and and the FO. Thats like 20%. Here is where most complaints should go. Bobby overusing the bullpen or not DFAing Greg Norton would fall here. But on the same hand, Frank Wren’s excellent moves like getting rid of Francouer, it would be hard for me to go lower than a 25% confidence. So throw on another .5.
Finally I’d say the other 10% is the ownership, and while I hate that Liberty Media didn’t throw us some bones for a bat in the off season, they didn’t take away anything either. So I’d say less than 50% confidence would be pretty foolish. So get another .5 and add em all up.
That is a bare minimum score of 6.9. So, therefore, anyone who votes below 7 for this week is clearly a dumbass. And you can’t argue cause I used math.
So in conclusion you should all do what I do every week and vote 10, because this is the fucking Braves and I am 100% confident that every night when I watch the games they will have a chance. When was the last time we got clobbered? We are always in every game til the end and thats just plain fun to watch.
+1
I laughed, and I can’t disagree…except the 10 every week thing.

Eh...
If this were the Falcons or the Thrashers I would vote less, but I watch every game with a ton of excitement and never miss one. Once they play so that its no fun to watch, then they will be under a perfect ten. After all isn’t getting me to watch the whole point of sports entertainment.
i see a huge shoot up in the poll in this week
and after voting my traditional 7 i see that i’m right.

High Numbers
I understand that this is an organizational confidence poll, but…
Baseball Prospectuses three measures for playoff odds indicate that Atlanta has ~30% of making it to October. Why has the confidence poll been trending so high lately?

I voted up from 7 to an 8. I feel we have the potential to make it to October. Are we the perfect team? No, show me one that is.
Are we going to win every game? No, but that is part of the game.
I feel we can win enough to get to the playoffs with our SP and our offense of late. Up until last night our defense had been very dependable, but again, those nights are going to happen. My reason for not voting higher than 8 is because our BP makes me nervous the way they are being used. I feel no lead is enough when we get into the BP. That said, I feel we have talent in the pen, if used correctly, but as they are being used now, this is a black spot imo.
I choose to think positively instead of negatively because I believe the Braves Can and Will be another worst to first team!
Go Braves!
PS agree with so many others, Brooksy should still be with the team. The guy showed the hustle and grit I love to see in a player.
lmao
Yeah, that’s why you want Connie back. surrrre.

My confidence fell
…when I saw Kelly Johnson had been recalled and Brooks Conrad had been optioned back to the minors.
This team would be pretty good if:
- KJ
- Diory
- Norton
+ Conrad
+ Burke
+ Blanco
KJ is just a bad luck charm, get him away. Diory is too inexperienced at the major league level, and Norton has been plain terrible. Conrad and Burke bring a little more power and experience to the table, while Blanco can serve as a great player to come off the bench and lay down a bunt or steal a base.
Make these moves, and my confidence will rise.
