Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves, Jul 2, 2009 7:10 PM EDT

Do I dare even say the s-word? We certainly have the right pitcher on the mound, and a guy who watched the Surgeon disembowel the Phillies last night. Hey karma! Our Braves need some of that good stuff you got.

Not only...

…would a win here mean a sweep of the Phils, but it would also mean a winning homestand. Not too shabby for how we seemed to play during the Red Sox and Yanks series.

Esco in, mclouth out

LHP? Kotch hasn’t been hitting all that great lately anyway so it’s not like it’s much of a difference.

Frenchy has actually been hitting better than Kotch as of late

With Blanco slapping the ball around like he is right now… I think Bobby can be careful about McClouth’s hammy, as that seems to a kind of nagging injury at times.

by dlkinser86 on Jul 2, 2009 6:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Karma would indicate the Braves will get shutout tonight since Vasquez is pitching and the team hasn’t won 4 in a row all year, but I don’t actually believe in karma. Go get ’em, Braves!

Just a slightly off-topic note, my dad just bought us both tickets to see the braves @ cubs game monday night. We already have tix to the wednesday day game, so i’m going to Chicago for 4 days and seeing 2 baseball games good times! Any advice for a live-baseball first timer would be appreciated. Bringing this back towards topic, i’m hoping that with JV on the mound tonight we can get the W tonight. However, as much as i think it’d be good to get a win tonight i think the series with the Natinals is more important indicator-of-our-competitiveness-wise, as it has been symptomatic of why we haven’t been able to make up ground that we win a couple of good games (see first 2 games of this series) but then go on to lose a bunch of games really crapilly (see potential of this against Natinals)

by FromTheBellyOfWickman on Jul 2, 2009 6:24 PM EDT reply actions

yeah.. get there early- as in for BP because there’s always a shot at an autograph, but also its an awesome way to see players and interact with them.

Yeah Baby! Esco back in the lineup back in the fifth spot as a true RBI man. Its great to see Prado doing so good and hopefully having him on base in front of Chipper, Mac and Esco the Bravos can score a lot more runs.

by ccarr25 on Jul 2, 2009 6:27 PM EDT reply actions

more of a rosterbation post but...

how about Esco for Dan Uggla straight up?
i guess Burke would be brought up to play short (unless diory is so loved) and KJ can either be traded or benched, or kept benched, and Marteen can be that great utility player he is and will be INSANE off the bench

Thoughts?

by GoBravesNY on Jul 2, 2009 6:28 PM EDT reply actions

why would FL need esco?

I agree

They would make that trade in a heartbeat! Then we could also package KJ for Pujols as well.

by JaeSlim on Jul 2, 2009 6:37 PM EDT up reply actions

We don’t joke about Pujols around here. It is sacrilege

by yondaime4 on Jul 2, 2009 6:45 PM EDT up reply actions

its true… never joke about Pujols…
to prove it:
I was playing MLB 07 the Show for the 1st time yesterday (yeah i never got around to playing it) and my friend said that we should play the all star game because he would just kill me anyway so why not have even teams.

we stayed tied 2-2 through 9 until Pujols comes up and 1st pitch he sees in the bottom of the 10th is destroyed and I win…

NEVER JOKE ABOUT PUJOLS

btw yondaime4…. i got his jersey the other day… its the only non-Braves Jersey i’d EVER get… its insane

also per DOB

“Wren told me last week, Braves will wait until they get closer to deadline, see how they’re playing and others in division look, and decide how hard to pursue a piece that might put them over the top. If they don’t think that’s possible, they’ll make moves with the future beyond next season in mind. In other words, aren’t going to do another multi-prospects-for-a-slugger trade in desperate attempt to stay in race this year. If they believe they can get a bat that’ll really matter, and do it without mortgaging the future beyond next season, they’ll do it. Or try, at least.”

by GoBravesNY on Jul 2, 2009 6:29 PM EDT reply actions

I agree with this statement though. We’re only 3 games out with the team we have, and its a team that is under-performing. If this team can perform up to its potential, we may very well be able to win the division this year with what we’ve got, especially with our SPs and bringing in Nate.

You think Javy wants this one tonight bad enough?

FYF wore his turkey underpants to the game yesterday. Afterwards he said:

"I don’t care what you’ve got to do, but you’re wearing that [expletive] to the park tomorrow."

I think he does, and I think we need to pound the living hell out of Happ too. We need to completely decimate what’s left of their confidence with a sweep here.

by BigG1392 on Jul 2, 2009 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions

cause we’re 8-0 this season when he wears them.

at this point, i dont care if Frenchy wears a purple jersey, yankees visor and a green thong in RF.

he already makes himself look bad, so it shouldn’t be much of an adjustment. if we win with the turkey underpants, i say wear them.

mvhsbball..

if you download the iphone/itouch mlb at bat 09 application its $9.99 but it has every games audio, it has stats, a live field, a k-zone..and highlight video is updated every 15 minutes during the games that are not broadcast live..like i said..2-4 games a day are broadcast through wi-fi or 3g daily. blackouts do apply however..so i’ll never catch a braves game i don’t think..but i have watched some good ball on my itouch..i just want the iphone cause i love my itouch..and the iphone can go anywhere and be able to access i-net and mlb at bat..itouch just has wifi.

Braves are the last team to get a 4-game winning streak this year.
Our first.

I say…we make it 5 tomorrow night against the Nats.
(but they always play us tough)

I'll finally be watching!

I love when they play Washington because I live and Virginia and that means the game will be on MASN! Also I’m dogsitting so I can sit in an empty house, turn to MASN and watch my first full Braves game of the year.

Life is sweet.

by RichmondBraves on Jul 2, 2009 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Enjoy!! I’m going to go out on a limb and say your first game of the year is going to be a good one!

Go Braves!

by HEYJUDE on Jul 3, 2009 3:32 AM EDT up reply actions

These wins are NO surprise to me.

Its about the players that we play. We threw our best three starters, and we started our best players. Our best players performed as we know that they can. This is the potential that our team has. LETS FUCKIN SWEEP THE NATS!!! B4 we know it, we are gonna be on a 6 game winning streak. Nice series, Bobby. Very well managed.

I just spent 4 days in the woods without phone/TV/internet and got home just in time to see us sweep them Phillies! Looking good again. Lets sweep those Nats!

Hope you had a fun time in the woods, but you missed some of the best games of the year!
Maybe, the team will continue to play as they have lately and you will get a feel of the fun it ’s been being a Brave Fan for the last 4 games!
Nice to have you back with us safely…….

Good to be back

And with Huddy getting warmed up it looks like the perfect time of the year.
