How will Braves fans react to Jeff Francoeur's return to Turner Field
This is a pretty simple post. Should the Braves fans at Turner Field tonight boo or cheer for Jeff Francoeur the first time he comes up to bat. How would you react, vote in the poll below.

A little cheer
I’d cheer him the first time at bat, just to show some love for the guy. After that, I just enjoy the game, and boo him if he started hurting us ;-)
I hit the wrong button...
Put boo but would chear. He tried to be a good player and he has a hot wife so its all good. Plus he’s on the Mets and is their problem now.
Wouldn't cheer or boo.
Wouldn’t give him reason to even show he matters. He took some shots at the fans the past year and a half, and I lost a little respect for him when he did that.. other than that he’s your typical right handed less than mediocre right fielder not to mention a met now..why cheer? :-)
Regardless of his prowess on the field, you really should pay respects to a former player.
I really think MOST of his quotes were misdirected and he’s really a good guy.
The base paths belonged to me, the runner. The rules gave me the right. I always went into a bag full speed, feet first. I had sharp spikes on my shoes. If the baseman stood where he had no business to be and got hurt, that was his fault. -Ty Cobb
i would cheer the first at bat but then I would treat him like another player

Cheer
He tried. He has worked hard to be productive…it just didn’t happen.
Acknowledge his time and effort in the first at bat and then move on!

agreed, I’d cheer too.
Over the last couple of years, he’s tried just about everything. He gained weight, lost it again, changed stances and worked with hitting coaches in the off season. He was frustrated about his own production and it showed, he kept pressing and putting a lot of pressure on himself (which probably hurt him more than helped). I wish him well, but I hope he goes o-fer against the Braves.

Thought about the fan reaction this morning
I’ll be at the game tonight. I fully intend to cheer at his first AB, and then, as others have said, move on. I’ve bitched and bitched about him dragging our offense down, but it seems to me that he always represented the club well in other aspects and appears to be a good guy. We should all wish him the best and wish that he never come back.

No "neither" option?
(forgive my copy/paste – but my feelings haven’t changed since I commented on the other thread asking this same question)
From what I read, a lot if not most Braves fans feel it’s best Frenchy is playing for another team. Some feel he acted and spoke selfishly and immaturely at times while here. While not professional at all, I think perhaps it came more from a lack of maturity than malice.
I get the feeling he’s pretty much been a spoiled brat for a very long time and used to getting his way. His early success in sports, big smile and demeanor made people want to like him ever since he was a young kid in school. So when things didn’t go like he expected them to (especially after breaking into the ML with fanfare and success), he pouted and got frustrated. As time goes on, life and baseball still has lessons to teach Frenchy. Hopefully they will help mature him and he’ll come to know it’s not always all about him.
As far as booing his first at bat? Well, I for one would not if I were there because I don’t think at this point that Frenchy has dissed the Braves publicly about this trade …but more importantly, as a Braves fan, I wouldn’t want to act or sound rude like Mets fans sometimes do.

However, I do have to be honest and say if he hits a homer, a grand slam or otherwise single-handedly turns on the offense to win the game – I’d have to Boo then as I would ANY guy wearing a Met uniform.

i'm with you.
i’m going Friday, and i plan on going with indifference.

I agree. Indifference is the best idea, then I would boo him to death if he started killing us. I never hated Francouer but always wish he had taken a little more responsibility for his struggles. I obviously don’t know the full story of what happened so I don’t want to rail on him.

Polite applause, probably not actual cheering and no standing ovation or anything. Booing him would be classless, he’s still a hometown guy. He plays for the Mets now though and he didn’t exactly help us on the field the last couple years. So polite applause and hopefully he’ll go 0-16.
However, if he takes a WALK, then it would probably be appropriate/funny to boo him.

Heard you on 680am last week here in ATL… you mentioned Freeman isn’t a stud prospect. Does he project at least as a solid ML regular? Everythind I’ve heard is that he’s a cornerstone for the Braves future.
Keith Law (1:20 PM)
He’s not Heyward, and he’s not an untouchable guy IMO. He’s more of a 55 (above-average regular) than a 60 or better.
I’d live with an above-average regular. Just because you’re not a “stud” doesn’t mean you can’t be very good.
Wow
It seems like EVERY scout on espn, BA, etc. Is convinced Heyward is going to be a superstar. I can’t wait.

I would cheer, he is an Atlanta native so that counts for something right?
But it doesn’t mean I’m not happy he’s gone.
I’ll hold onto the memories of when he hit the HR in his first at bat and how I jumped up and ran around and tripped over my dog sleeping on the floor, that’s how I’ll remember Francouer. Everything else is sad….
I said this earlier in the week
They should cheer.
And they will cheer.

I'm gonna have to be the first douche here I guess
I am going to boo. And loudly
A. – HES A MET
B. – His OBP remarks still make me cringe
C. – His potshots at teammates around him in the lineup
D. – His whining when DFA’d
E. – His continual dragging down of said lineup for 3 years
F. – HES A MET
60% of the time, it works every time
Couldn't agree more.
But if I were at the game, I think that I would take no particular note of “The Natural.” Instead I would just drink my beer and enjoy the game, and let everyone else worry about booing or cheering the guy.
They should play "The Natural" theme the first time he comes to the plate

I'll give him a nice golf-clap.
Either that or I’ll just sit and listen like I do any other player.
