Thoughts from Ken Rosenthal
Rosenthal made an appearance on a local radio show this afternoon:
Among the (relevant) highlights:
* He thinks that Atlanta has "one of the best staffs from 1-12 out there," and that Jair Jurrjens, Javier Vazquez, and Rafael Soriano are all All-Star worthy.
* He thinks that we could contend because of our stellar pitching, but probably won't because our hititng won't come around.
* He said that the Nate McLouth trade was a good one, but that the fact that it hasn't really helped (in terms of wins and losses, I'll assume) was concerning.
* He said that if we are to turn it around, we'll need more from Yunel Escobar and Jeff Francoeur. The 2B situation was mentioned, but more as an afterthought.
* He overlooked the Braves when asked which team out of playoff contention will most likely make a playoff push, going with the Rockies instead.
* He doesn't think the Mets are done, but noted that they're really struggling with without Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, John Maine, and Oliver Perez.
PS: I know there probably isn't enough info here for a FanPost, but it didn't really fit any of the categories for a Shot.

He didn’t say anything new here. Most people knew about all of this. Im gonna say it again, if we dont get another bat we wont make the playoffs(unless Prado is that bat and he can keep hittin like he has), im just still not sold on Frenchy yet, he is hittin better but still though. We have to somehow get another bat without trading our pitching and without trading too much in terms of prospects. Tough task for Wren.

let me ask you this if frenchy keeps hitting better and better (like he has of late), then why trade him?

I think the better question is...
Why would he keep better and better? He hasn’t changed anything about his game fundamentally.

Frenchy hasn’t made any big improvements, he’s been lucky a few times lately, but not enough to make any big difference.
Frenchy is still an automatic out most of the time. This is one area that is really hurting us.

A man walks into a meat shoppe and goes to the counter. The cashier asks, "Thinking about buying some meat?". The man replied, "No, I'm going to buy meat, I was thinking about punanny."

Thanks guys.
I just didn’t wanna get ragged on because it’s short. I’ve certainly done some of it myself.

Nice fanpost, I haven’t got the guts to post anything yet. I’ve gotta get thicker skin in order to handle the ragging!

Prado should be our every day second baseman

I concur, KJ is an automatic out.
I like the Guy but we just can’t afford to have automatic outs in the line up.

If Esco and mclouth just stay in the lineup we will be better

I concur.
That was my thought when he said the McLouth trade hadn’t helped. Stupid injuries.

My thoughts exactly as I read that McLouth hasn’t helped us any.
