BP falling to the wayside?
This doesn't merit it's own fanpost, nor does it really have to do with the Braves, but I thought it was a pretty nice little read.

Interesting. Thanks.
No doubt Nate is a true genius.
And no doubt metrics analysis is valid and highly useful. However, it ain’t everything, all the time.

BP is ancient and I’m surprised it took Deadspin this long to figure that out. They still have PECOTA, Eqa is pretty decent, their pythag with third order wins is pretty nice, and some bells and whistles like quality of opponents faced. FRAA is "the RBI of fielding metrics, VORP is crap, and most of their other stuff has long been left behind.

Sorry to have missed out on the continuing open thread discussion last night. I didn’t admit defeat or run away, but rather had to step away from the nearest computer to deal with life issues. Was unavailable and did not return until 8th inning or so.

Also, re throwing the team under the bus, I’m not sure exactly what the hell you’re talking about. I went back and looked at 4 or 5 news accounts re the demotion and his comments were basically that he had taken essentially no days off, ever, had played with significant injuries without complaining, and had not been given advance notice that the demotion option was even on the table or been given much of any explanation. So, it seems he felt dissed and was disappointed, and probably didn’t handle it particularly well, not that many 24 year old would. I don’t think he was a screaming asshole about it. In fact, I’ve never heard or read anything about him being disruptive, a jerk, or a bad teammate. I take it that for whatever reason, you see it much differently.
