Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap: 6/3
Sorry about no recap last night. I have no excuses.
Gwinnett 9, Rochester 1
- J. Schafer 0-5 RBI, 2K
- W. Timmons 2-4 2 2B, 2 BB, K
- B. Canizares 3-4 2B, RBI, BB
- C. Sammons 4-5 3 2B, 3 RBI, K
I still think there is something wrong with Jordan Schafer that he won't own up to. But we won't know until he...owns up to it. Lots of other offensive heroes in this game though. Canizares is back up to .332 for the season and is rolling with a .914 OPS. Vladimir Nunez started this game and was followed by a motley crew of relievers to hold a solid Rochester offense to 4 hits and 5 BB.
West Tennessee 0, Mississippi 2
- W. Cabrera 2-3 HR(3)
- J. Venters 6IP 6H 0R 2BB, 4K
So Mississippi only managed 3 hits and 2 walks for the entire game and still managed to win the game with some solid pitching from Jonny Venters and three 1 hit innings from the bullpen. Cory Gearrin got his first save in a Mississippi uniform.
Myrtle Beach @ Winston Salem - Postponed
Augusta 5, Rome 0
- L. Sumoza 1-4 2B, 2K
- J. Thompson 6.2IP 7H 5R 3BB 4K
Not much offense from a team that can be a little weak with the bats from time to time. Jacob Thompson has had a pretty rough season thus far. He has only had three games where he has given up less than 3 runs and he has allowed 74 hits in his 64 innings. His strong ground ball ratio is encouraging and some of this could be due to his weak defense but Zeke Spruill has only had problems in a couple games. Spruill has better stuff from what I have heard though.

Ha...
One bad game at AAA, and he’s done.

I think that wrist may still be bothering him. plus there was talk about his back as well. if somethings wrong he should just man up and say whats going on
he supposedly hurt his wrist 2 months ago
unless its broken, it shouldnt still be hurt.

you have to think about it. if you sprain something and never stop using it the injury will get worse.
He needs to sit for a good week or two

Exactly.
I get that dude’s a gamer and stuff, but they need to make him sit down if his wrist is still bothering him.
Q: If on-base pct is so important then why don't they put it on the scoreboard? -Failcoeur
A: Because the Braves don't want to show their fans how bad you suck.
Schafer is just too competitive...
But he seriously needs to just chill out and take a few days off…

I went to graduate school with him.
If Dunn walks 30 fewer times, he'll drive in 15 more runs. This is thanks to the scientifically proven formula: RBI = (this is nonsense) (I made it all up).
Here's a stat: Wins as manager: Dusty Baker, 1,162; Bill James, 0.
“No they didn’t”
People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.
no, no they didn’t. But you could imagine what it would be like if they did! eh?eh?
