Yeah, but we have to make some kind of move. I would hate to lose Javy, though.

Randy Gress could be called up whenever he wants, he just declines the assignment every time because he wants to show the young kids how to play
he went back in time to father chuck norris.

"JJ, Vazquez, and Lowe deserve better treatment"
You frickin’ kidding me? They make more money per start than most people make in a year. They are all fulfilling contractual obligations to the Braves, which, in one way or another, they CHOSE to agree to. There are lots of other people that deserve your pity WAY more than any of those guys. Jeez.
No I didn’t. He effectively spends the first six “sentences” (if you can call them that) arguing that we are doing some kind of wrong by these pitchers by not giving them offensive support. If you want to argue that we need more offense because it would help win games, then fine. But we don’t need to go get offense because we feel bad for our pitchers.
Also, worst offense in the history of the organization? You must have just come around in the last 15 years or so and don’t know a thing about history
really?
well, that is one less thing for people (including me) to post about…
just out of curiosity, why didn’t you want him?

True
I think I was wanting him just to get FYF out of the lineup. ANYBODY would be a suitable sub for FYF.

Your offense sucks so you want to make the pitching staff suck just as bad.
Yeah, makes a lot of sense.
Oh, Bobby.
Well um.
yea
so.
yea.
what would be funny is if we did this and came back a better team some how. lol
like trading those SP’s for a 2B and a OF’er. Our offense becomes amazing with horrible pitching we will look like the Rangers
i think turner field is pretty fair over the years…not really a pitchers park and not really a hitter’s park… Its not perfectly even but i think its pretty close (you are correct it is closer to the pitchers side of things)…i certainly wouldnt consider it a pitchers park
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?

Did anybody...
notice Vasquez pouting in the dugout after he was removed from the game? I am wondering if anyone knows anything about it.
I think I saw him twitching
I wonder if everything is ok???

I like that in a pitcher….
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." A. Bartlett Giamatti
Maybe...
But at some point, it’s not your decision. I want a guy who’ll tell his manager he wants to (and can) go, but I also want a guy who will respect his manager as the team decision-maker.
Remember, kids...don't ever let facts get in the way of your argument.

well yeah...
I agree. I just like it when they are competitive enough to get mad when they are taken out.

Would you want to come out when you have a shaky bullpen?
I really hate pitch counts, and 100 is such a stupid arbitrary number. The pitch count should be more like 125 pitches. Pitchers can barely go 7 innings now. How the hell do they keep making more and pitch less?
And I didn’t think the JV was pouting. He was f*cking tired pitching on a scorching day. Not like it really matters though. Pouting is acceptable, throwing little hissy fits aren’t.
Actually...
History says that pitchers who go over 120 are likely to get blown up in their next start and/or hurt in the near future. And I was neither confirming nor denying this specific incident of whining. Just noting that he’d not only been upset earlier in the year about it, but he complained int he media about it.

The Solution:
Trade everyone not named Brian McCann.
"Here comes Bream! Here's the throw to the plate! He is...safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win!...Braves win!"
Hey now
what about Hanson and JJ.
JJ Hanson and Medlen as a 1.2.3 would be interesting to say the least.
Prob would pitch just as good.
by drumzalicious on Jun 28, 2009 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions
unless they change their name to McCann, I say get rid of them.
"Here comes Bream! Here's the throw to the plate! He is...safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win!...Braves win!"
Also, the team should be moved to Brian’s hometown and renamed the Athens McCann’s.
"Here comes Bream! Here's the throw to the plate! He is...safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win!...Braves win!"
trade them all....
then pencil hanson in all 5 slots in the rotation. heap and larry take all 8 spots in the order, have mccann catch, and chipper play in the field, have everybody else sit down and be amazed….

Don't Be Silly !!!!
Another Northern posting about the Braves, an NYC Braves fan I almost fell out of my chair with laughter.
It is not Lowe, JJ or Vasquez fault. JJ & Vasquez have had what 5 runs for them in their last what 3 or four starts combined ????
Yes the offense is bad, an without it we cannot make the playoffs or get to five hundred. We have to start worrying about next season when we can dump so over paid arb eligible guys like K.J, Bennett, and Frenchy to save some cash.
Huddy is going to be interesting situation this offseason but I still think we bring him back especially if he comes back in August and looks like the huddy of old and at a price of 12million for one season that still is not that high given the cost of arms on the open market today.
Guys like Soriano, and Gonzo are not going to be cheap either so I hope we just let Soriano walk and keep moylan whom is still arb eligible so we can resign Gonzo.

Now, I know spectulating on trades gets old, but I have just been going from team to team, thinking about some options that really wouldn’t be TOOO much of a stretch. First of all, I think it would be dumb to trade for someone that isn’t somewhat proven. We don’t really need many propects, we have those. I see our options are obviously outfield, but what about first base. Kotchman is a whizz with the glove, a pretty good hitter, and on a great contract, could be catch the eyes of several teams. Many teams are always trying to cut budget. The Twins are known for selling players for prospects. What if we took a serious stab at Morneau. Kotchman and a couple mid to high prospects might be able to get him. Or eve Kubel from that team. He is not proven to the extent of Morneau, but has gotten better each year out, and is having a very good year. I still think we should look at Matt Holliday, a perfect middle of thie lineup guy that could hold down left field for a long time if they could resign him after the season. It may be an extreme long shot, but Adrian Gonzalez from the Padres would be a good guy. He is proably on too good of a contract for the Padres to trade him, but this is the level guy that we need. We really don’t need a second level player, that is more of the same. To get a high level cleanup hitter, we are going to have to pay the price, and I think it is time to pay it. Besides prospects, the only thing I can see to trade is Javy or Lowe, Frenchy, Soriano or Gonzalez, Johnson if he has any value at all. I would NOT trade Chipper, McLouth or McCann, or any of our young arms. Its getting close to the All Star game and if a move is not made soon, I don’t see the Braves offense being good enough for a push. At the deadline, or after the season, one pitcher will probably have to be moved. Lowe, Vazquez or Hudson will have to be traded or not resigned. That and expiring contracts may be enough to get a free agent outfielder. I am just scrolling down a list or potential free agents, not sure if it is updated, but here is what I found ( not a long list) . Jason Bay, Carl Crawford, Jermaine Dye, Matt Holliday, Vlad (although a little old), Abreu, DeRosa even. Obviously the last few of those would be temporary, but are an upgrade from what we got out there. Crawford if hasn’t already, will either resigne with the Rays, or get a huge contract from some other team. I would say that Bay, Holliday, Crawford, Dye would be our top options. I Jason Bay is out there, but I have heard Texiera money for him, so scratch him off the list. Crawford isn’t a power guy, but Crawford and McLouth at the top of the lineup could make a world of difference as well. All and all, we don’t need much really, one more guy, but that guy is going to have to be really good to make any difference with this team.

Nobody said you were.
However, if your posts can actually be, you know, read by people, they’re likely to get a better response.

While their points could be made more softly, they do have a point. Making your arguments more legible is exhibit A in getting people to read them. Content notwithstanding, most people are not going to take the effort to read even the most well thought out position when its presented as such.

aside from that nonsense I don’t see a big player coming to our ball club like wcubmac’s post describes. i don’t see us getting much in return for kj or fyf even if we pair them together. their is no leader on the team and I haven’t been impressed by mac or chip this year.

Thanks Roy, I’ll break it up a little next time. I know that we won’t get anything for FYF or KJ, they would have to be add on’s. Mac and Chipper are both having good years, I would have to agree with bravesfan203, neither one’s really showing any leadership. I think part of the problem is Chipper and Anderson are really the two that have played on winning teams. Its been a while since Chipper has, and Anderson is new, not in a leadership postion, or seems to want to lead.
Unless we are in the clubhouse
we cannot say who is and is not being a “leader” on this team. To suggest someone is not is almost as bad as Joe Morgan saying the Mets don’t have a leader because they don’t have a “perfect player” on their team.

I agree
I just seems like a circus sometimes on the field. So many bonehead plays by Kelly Johnson, Escobar out there in a world of his own, sometimes is seems FYF is lost out there in his own world. That kind of stuff you just didn’t see in the past, or at least not me. They have lost the last few years, but I never pointed to the lack of focus. This year, Ive seen stuff that i have never seen Braves teams do. Of course, Escobar has been getting scolded, and Johnson is playing by default.
