Any hope that FYF..
Sitting today was because of a pending trade? I hope so. His comments in Bowman's article were interesting..
"It's his decision," Francoeur said. "I've been swinging the bat good lately. I had some of my best at-bats of the season [Saturday night]."
His decision referring to Bobby's choice to start Blanco in right today. This guy is a RALLY KILLER! Prime example here from saturday nite, the night FYF says he had his best AB's of the year:
Top of the 8thSingle: Garret Anderson singled to right. Runner on first with none out and Martin Prado due up.
Single: Martin Prado grounded into a fielder's choice, second to short. Runner on first with one out and Casey Kotchman due up.
Single: Casey Kotchman singled to right. Runners on first and second with one out and Jeff Francoeur due up.
Out: Jeff Francoeur grounded into a double play, pitcher to short to first to end the inning.
MURDERER.

“It’s his decision,” Francoeur said. “I’ve been swinging the bat good lately. I had some of my best at-bats of the season [Saturday night].”
Yet another example of the cluelessness that is Jeff Francoeur. He thinks it is a mistake to bench him.
I literally can’t stand him anymore. Coming into this season, I was one of his few supporters on this site…now, I am so far to the other end of that spectrum…

He needs to get out of Atlanta if he’s going to have any chance. New organization, new manager, new fans, and new hitting coach. That being said, he doesn’t seem to understand how patient the organization has been, giving him 700+ AB’s of sub .650 OPS in the big leagues. I think there is some chance that he could be a decent player again but he needs a new organization and a refreshed perspective.
At this point, a dose of success, at any level, would have to be a major boost to his psyche. The sooner this ends, the better all parties will be.

My concern is that if FYF is traded/released, we will have a Brayan Pena/Escobar situation where McCann’s performance declines because his best buddy is gone.

I think McCann is has matured enough to not be frazzled about little ol’ Frenchy packing his bags. McCann should be able to see through Jeff’s little bitchiness.

Off-topic, but...
Does cutting Pena make any more sense to anyone than it did then? The guy’s a pretty solid hitter, and while certainly not great defensively, you could run him out there in the corner OF or IF spots if you needed to since catcher is pretty well taken care of.

A cardboard cut out of Francoeur in right field would probably be enough to fill the void. McCann doesn’t see too well and the increased offensive production of the cardboard cutout over the real #7 would likely equate to a normal, fat and happy Mac.

Yeah, i was just joking, but good job everyone. I guess anything’s possible, and this could affect Heap, but i highly doubt it.

FYF on upcoming homestand (Yanks/Sox/Cubs/Phils):
“I’m sure it’ll be like seven away games for us but we’re used to that by now.”
What the effing crap? I know sometimes we aren’t exactly the Royal Rooters, but is he just trying to burn the bridge at this point?
He went on to add “I think people forget we’re playing the Phillies.”

I seem to recall there was a Brave a while back who did alright after making such a comment.
Maybe if we an get the city behind booing him mercilessly, we can hope for a comeback? Nah, you’re right, probably not.

David Justice used to mouth off about Atlanta fans
But David Justice could hit the freaking baseball.
Replace his World Series winning homer with Francoeur swinging at the first pitch and beating it to the third baseman, and we’ve got a much lamer legacy.

"I’m sure it’ll be like seven away games for us but we’re used to that by now."
I’m sure it’s easy for him to make this generalization that any Braves fan that’s not female and/or 14-16 years old pretty much can’t stand the sight of him, and lets him know this at home and on the road.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I was hoping Frenchy would turn things around until I heard Chipper’s reply to a ? concerning Frenchy’s problems at the plate. Chipper says he has worked with him on his swing but that Frenchy cannot get “the feel” of what he is doing wrong.
Chipper says when he has a problem with his swing that he can look at tapes of good swings and go out to BP and work on it to he gets “the feel” back. If a slumping batter cannot get the normal feel back it’s almost impossible to improve.
Take that info for what it’s worth. To be honest I did not understand “the feel” Chipper was referring to. I am sure some of you guys may understand the reference.

basically frenchy has developed bad mechanics at the plate, i’ve seen him pull his head several times..especially with runners in scoring position. swinging way to hard and pulling his head off the ball to not even know where he’s swinging. If he would watch video of power hitters, power hitters crush the ball with a smooth swing that makes great contact, because they keep their head on the ball, don’t pull of and they keep their power back on their rear leg, and also they do not have a violent hard swing (roll the vintage K.Griff jr. video now).. not saying don’t swing with authority, certainly put something into it, but he’s over swinging and pulling his head off. which takes care of problem number 1 with his mechanics. #2 is his constant searching where to hold the bat when in his stance, i’ve seen it high, on his shoulder, mid ways..everything..its all over the place. I’m getting tired of ripping him apart, but his stance is garbage, its like he wants to load his front foot before loading his rear thus the BIG dropoff in power. Notice when he does show glimpses of power and gets a hit, he stays back on his right leg. Hope this helps understanding “the feel”

Thanks, I know what “the feel” is now! I suspected it had something to do with some of the things you mentioned But Wow are you a coach or something? Great Explanation!

That was a good analysis
But I think the problem goes beyond feel. It has a lot to do with his bad approach as well. TP is not all to blame, but I remember his saying last year that he didn’t want Frenchy to “lose his aggressiveness”. If anyone needs to lose some aggressiveness (doesn’t see enough pitches, overswings), it is Frenchy. Beyond that. Frenchy’s mechanics are bad, but they are better than last year due to his work with Chipper and Jamarillo. That alone would account for some improvement if it weren’t for the fact that his approach is still F***ing aweful…

he’s awful right now..cut losses and take what you can for him..i’d take some of that fermented chicken beer at this point.

Agreed
Did anyone else read this (MLBTR):
Bradford Doolittle of the Kansas City Star says Royals GM Dayton Moore has referred to Jeff Francoeur as a successfully-developed player more than once.
Also read that Jason Bay was so close to becoming a Brave that the Front office had already sewed his name on a jersey… Dissappointing.

are you serious about Bay???

Failcoeur is done…Fork’s already in him. If neither Chipper nor Jarimillo can make a dent in Frenchy, then not even a change of scenery would help.
BTW…what does FYF mean?

Could be wrong cause I'm newish but I think it means something not nice...
…that should be relatively clear once you realize the last F stands for Francoeur and the FY for something else.
If I’m wrong, somebody please correct me so I can feel like a tool.
