More ridiculous Jeff Francoeur trade speculation
In his blog this evening, MLB and Braves beat writer Mark Bowman had this to say about Jeff Francoeur:
The Royals are watching Jeff Francoeur this weekend and there's still obviously a chance that Dayton Moore could be prompted to make a deal for the 25-year-old outfielder.
But to make this deal work, the Braves may need to be willing to assume the baggage and cost that Jose Guillen would bring. Guillen is making $12 million this season and he'll be owed and equal amount before his contract expires at the end of the 2010 season.
I can see KC being one of the more likely destinations for Frenchy, but the Braves wouldn't take on that Guillen contract in a million years. It's one thing to want to get rid of a guy who is under performing as badly as Francoeur is, but taking on a player like Guillen is not too much of an upgrade, and it's certainly not an improvement when his contract is condiered. For $12 million a year, the Braves could get a lot more out of the free agent or trade market than Jose Guillen.

Trade
I’d take on a contract for some ribs in exchange for Frenchy

LOL
That rally-kiling GIDP was as predictable as seeing Kendra Wilkinson’s blurred boobs and ass on E!
Oh, Bobby.

+1 (or 2 for each boob/each of the outs you can guarantee when Jeff comes up with a runner on first and less than 2 outs)

Jeff Francoeur
Jose Guillen isnt the answer . I’d rather have Maggilo in Detroit and Detriot would get rid of him send them Jeff , Jones in AAA . Ask them to pay half of Maggilo contract for the next 2 years .

I'd take Josh Beckett's left testicle for Francoeur and then put it out in right field.
Oh, Bobby.

Pretty soon you won’t have to give up anything for Mags… when the Tigers release him.

Have you been paying attention to Ordonez at all this season?

Please let’s just ride him out till season’s end and non-tender him if we can’t get a D prospect or a bat boy for him.

Hmmm
Jose Guillen next season or;
Matt Holliday
Jason Bay (I would shit my pants if we got him)
Jermaine Dye
Rick Ankiel
Take your pick!
Wren is finally on most of our good sides. If he traded for Guillen, i would fly to atlanta and fire him myself
AB: Jeff Francoeur
Pitching: Any pitcher in MLB
Runners: Escobar at 3rd, Chipper at 2nd, McCann at 1st.
Pitch 1: In play, out(s)

I would go for this
Frenchy + prospects for Dejesus…They have both been struggling this year but we could get a true leadoff guy and give us more opportunities to use NM power at he #3 hole with chipper hitting cleaup.
But NOWAY the braves take on this dog of a contract!! I would rather have Mags or Lee contract than Guillen the head case.

NON -CONTENDERS
The Braves need to quit playing as if they were contenders & trade some of these weak sisters for prospects. Since we have become such a budget minded team we have not been able to compete, always with major crashes in the 2nd Half after WE trade OUR prospects to help get someone who is not going to stay past year end. Turn it around & take a chance, there will soon be some desperate teams (with a chance) willing to trade.

They're not even five games out...

And look how good our prospects that we traded turned out for all of those teams. Stop thinking that we’re going to get great prospects that will produce in the next year or two for our scraps at the major league level who aren’t producing now. Unless you’re actually Furman Bisher and you think we should trade our good players.

The Braves need to stay away from Gullien.
I do however wonder if they are thinking about a trade for someone else maybe Joakim Soria?
Frenchy and possibly Acosta for Soria?
Only reason im saying that is because we in actuality dont have a closer for the next few years and the FO might be trying to get a young one thats locked up for the next few years. From there they would prob deal one of the closers we have for a Bat. Pref Gonzo. However it would be sick to have all 3 in our BP.

i know its far fetched.
I’m just saying its not a stretch to think that we could be looking at Soria. and i know it would most likely take more than FYF and Acosta. Prob Medlen or someone

Im just saying if we are in talks with them for some kind of trade i wonder if thats an idea explored.
and yes im for real. if you disagree instead of being pompous about it why dont you contribute in a constructive manner.
either simply say “i disagree”
ignore it
or just offer a different scenario that you think would be more fitting with out the sarcastic tone.

Maybe you need to realize it hasn’t been discussed because Soria is one of the absolute best closers in the league, under team control until 2014, and is having some injury issues. None of the 3 players you proposed we trade for him could even be a fraction of how good he is RIGHT NOW.

You're not "contributing in a constructive manner" with ridiculous trade ideas that woudl never happen.

By speculating that we could be looking at a solution for our closer situation for next year
Really? whats wrong with looking at the fact that we could be looking at a person to fill our closer void?
i mean really. Im pretty sure it would take a well put together package but its something that could be a possibility.
And the Lowe trade was not as crazy as it was made out to be

I mean, we could be looking at Frankie Rodriguez as a "solution for our closer situation..."
But that doesn’t mean we can send FUGA and Moylan for him.

I don’t think Bowman is suggesting a straight Francoeur for Guillen swap here, that would be absurd. I think any trade between these two teams would likely involve multiple pieces on each side but I don’t know KC’s needs enough to say what else we would be giving up.
by dadogleg on Jun 21, 2009 12:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Any trade that has us getting Guillen is a loser of a deal, unless they pay all the contract, and then what’s the point for them.
