Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap: 6/12

Scranton WB 5, Gwinnett 4

  • R. Gorecki 1-4 HR(5), K
  • B. Conrad 1-4 HR(9). 2 RBI, K
  • B. Jones 2-3 BB

The G-Braves have lost 5 of their last 6 gamers and I wonder if they are starting to feel the effects of all the promotions to Atlanta. Hanson, Medlen, Canizares all to Atlanta and Morton lost to a trade. The same thing happened last year when Morton and Reyes were dominating AAA and Richmond was leading the league. Then the promotions came. We shall see if Gwinnett can keep their head above water. Jordan Schafer should be able to help when he comes back.

Birmingham 6, Mississippi 2

  • M. Young 2-4 SB(18)
  • W. Cabrera 1-4 2B, RBI, K

A second straight loss to the league leading Barons. Former Braves farmhand Tyler Flowers went 2-5 with 2 2B and an RBI. His OPS is up over .900 on the year and he would be a great addition to the offense (though where we would put him I don't know) in the next year or so. Otherwise nothing else special to see here. Ryne Reynoso got hit around in his 5 innings and the bullpen pitched well after he left.

Myrtle Beach 0, Salem 6

  • D. Linares 1-4 2B
  • S. Shults 1-3 K
  • R. Sullivan 5IP 6H 4R 2BB 4K

Somehow Stephen Shults sneaked onto the MB roster without me noticing. Which is sad, cause he has been there for about a week. Whatever. Sullivan didn't have a great game and he has been mostly average in Myrtle Beach but he hasn't been horrible in any game there. And he did have that one game where he was pretty freaking awesome. Still no Heyward in the game and no word on when he will get back outside of internet hearsay. Cody Johnson also had the day off.

Charleston 7, Rome 2

  • J. Santamaria 1-4 2B, K
  • C. Shehan 1-2 2B, K
  • R. Delgado 6IP 4H 2R 2BB 7K

Prized pitching prospect Randall Delgado put together his best outing in nearly two months. He's young but you guys know I was starting to get a little worried. I honestly think this guy could be a real stud in the majors but it is easy to forget how young he is. What is even crazier is Teheran is still only 18 years old. I can't wait to see him this year. Hopefully he will start in Danville in a couple of weeks.
