Game 29 Recap: Braves 6, Phillies 10

At this point I believe Jo-Jo Reyes has more than proven that he is not a major league starter. Yes, there were some questionable calls and shaky defense, but you can't blame the umps or the-D for three homeruns. Reyes hasn't won in his last 17 starts, dating back to almost a year ago. Why, WHY is he still in majors! Don't we have to call up Tommy Hanson at this point? I say yes.

It was good to see Brian McCann back in the lineup delivering some key hits. Casey Kotchman has a nice 3-run homerun off of Lidge, but it was too little to late in the ninth -- kind of a wasted comeback off of their closer, unfortunately.

Tommy Hanson.

JoJo Must Go!!

Call up Medlen or Hanson now!!

I’ve said it time and time again that soft throwing lefties really suck. I’m not sure how Glavine was able to do it, but he did have pin point control. JoJo doesn’t have control like Glavine did.

Please bring up Mort, Hanson or Medlen.

I wouldn’t really classify Reyes as a soft tosser

"kind of a wasted comeback off of their closer, unfortunately."

Isnt that how it always is for us against Lidge? It seems like we light him up nearly everytime, but we always fall short, or it is just too late.

Is it too much to ask that management put the best team possible on the field?

Regardless of that horrible throw to first (that basically cost us the game)....

I couldn’t get over the fact that the home plate ump refused to appeal to first. I’ll bet he has “Go Phille” tattooed across his back.

That was pretty piss poor, and the replay clearly showed Hamels was being a douche to get on. I would have just drilled him in the fucking back.

I was at the game

but had no clue what Bobby was arguing about. How was Hamels being a douche? As far as I could tell he was in the basepath, right?

I’ve always thought one of the toughest plays in baseball is a pitcher’s throw to first. Not completely sure where Francouer was on that play either.

Let’s bring up the kids. Young Guns II was the better movie, from what I remember. . .

I’m not ready to give up on YoYo Reyes yet. The guys walk rates have declined, strikeout rates inclined, and ERA has improved each of the last three years. You can’t really fault him for the Braves rushing him to the big leagues 3 years ago, but I really think that hurt him. A guy with his command issues shouldn’t have been learning to throw strikes in the big leagues. I just feel like he’s one or two starts away from really breaking through so I say give him a couple more starts, and if he doesn’t turn a corner, then send him back down.

Interesting thing about Jo-Jo is that his minor league HR rate has always been really good while it’s been awful in the majors. Like Uninvited said, his K rate is going up and his walk rate is going down. Once that HR rate regresses back to his career major league average, he’ll be a 4.5 ERA guy at worst with some upside.

All this calling for Hanson is futile. The Braves will call up Morton first. If Morton is struggling then they will utilize Campillo. The only way Hanson makes it up if is Kawakami goes down in flames

Worth mentioning

Morton went 8 innings last night giving up 2 runs. He’s 3-2 with a 2.88ERA now (and it would be lower but he gave up 7 runs a few weeks ago). Still, i want me some Tommy Hanson.

Good evening San Diego, Im Ron Bergundy. Tits McGee is off tonight.

I know it's "only spring training," but is it time to be concerned about McLouth?
