Crasnick on Francoeur
Crasnick talks about the work Francoeur has done on his approach as well as Chipper's influence. One nice quote from Frenchy "If on-base percentage is so important, then why don't they put it up on the scoreboard?". I'm hoping that was a joke.

Swisher benefited from hours of work with coach Joe Sparks, who devised a drill in which he’d throw pitches and Swisher had to shout out “yes” or “no” before the ball reached the plate.
I would like to see Jeff Francoeur perform this exercise.

Sounds kinda like the drill we had to do in HS where we would get two tennis balls tossed at us…one with a red dot on it, one with a blue dot on it…and the person throwing the ball would shout which color to hit.

we kinda did something like that
we had different color dots on some practice balls and had to yell the color of the ball before we swung at it.

could work
my coach told us to think as the pitch was approaching yesyesyesyes then no if we weren’t swinging as opposed to nononono and then yes if we were. Was easier to stop a swing then start your swing. Worked for me, but maybe not Jeff as he is already thinking swing on every pitch. It could help him with not being late on every pitch. I don’t think I have ever seen one player hit so many jamshot ground balls to the shortstop.

Okay now I remember why I didn’t like him

The expanded stats only appear once a game, and not for every batter, and that’s usually when the pitcher is really slow, or taking his dear sweet time.

and the sad part is he really is better than last year.
