Game 25 Recap: Mets 6, Braves 4
This is getting kind of old. I much prefer winning to the most recent state of things.
Javy-V got bitten by the homerun bug and we couldn't muster more than 5 hits. If our pitchers could just skip the sixth inning I feel our record would be a lot better this year.

Livan Hernandez
is pitching tonight. For Pujols’s sake, we have to be able to win this one.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Isn’t Hernandez known for his groundball tendencies? I know he normally gives up a ton of hits…

He is, but he’s also arguably the worst pitcher on the Mets staff, whom has had a career history of struggling against the Braves after Eric Gregg.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Maybe...
This is just the pitcher some of our Braves need to get back on track.

That’s what I’m hoping for tonight. But who knows what we’ll get out of Kawakami, but at least we can take solace in knowing that both Soriano and Gonzalez are fresh if needed.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I'm thinking...
We need someone to throw at Escobar again. Maybe a few other players, too…
It can only help, right?

Now that you mention it, the team does seem really dry, and stale, and not very loose right now. I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing some fire out of our boys right about now, even if it means Escobar has to taking a plunking or something.

Maybe all the recent rain has put out their fires.

That way the fire stays fucking lit.

Do you work for a stadium roofing company or something? Good Pujols man, let it go. The cities that have or will be be getting stadiums with roofs are the only cities that need them (minus Minnesota, i don’t know what the hell they are thinking with that new stadium).

I wonder if Yunel will ever get into a true fight with a pitcher…..yeah, it’s just a matter of time, isn’t it?

Probably. I’d settle for Cox getting tossed arguing balls and strikes.
If Dunn walks 30 fewer times, he'll drive in 15 more runs. This is thanks to the scientifically proven formula: RBI = (this is nonsense) (I made it all up).
Here's a stat: Wins as manager: Dusty Baker, 1,162; Bill James, 0.
or better yet, what if Bobby clocked an ump?!

If he needs a jumpstart right now, it's the perfect time to play the Braves (sad but true)
especially with Walk Machine up tonite.

I did...
See the game he threw against the Braves during spring training…
But now we don’t have Freddy Garcia to help us out.

Even though the standings show the Braves easily within striking distance of the division, it’s starting to feel like this season is circling the drain. I hope Anderson proves he was worth the money and the glasses are the answer to McCann’s eye problems.
Just looking at that box score you have to wonder why Bobby thought Vasquez should come back out in the 7th after giving up 4 runs in the 6th. Bad call.
We’re still one big bat away from serious contention, unless multiple people step it up offensively. I’d make a move sooner rather than later, if we are planning to deal arms for a bat. I won’t bring up Dunn again, though I really want to.

I would say one big bat plus one quality middle reliever. I wonder if we can steal Ron Mahay back or something.
I’m glad to see the Braves taking their walks kills yesterday, but the lack of a player that can hit some doubles and drive in runs right now is just resulting in tons of men stranded. The team can’t run bases right now, with Schafer and Kelly being unable to reach base, and Escobar giving away seemingly an out a game on the basepaths.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Hopefully that guy will be back Friday

Seems like before Chipper’s homer last night, just about everyone on the team had been hitting balls to the warning track but just couldn’t get those last few feet

How are the ticket sales???? it always looks empty at the TED and you have to think that ticket sales would be a variable in a trade? Just saying.
Abysmal. Marketing for them has gone down as well, as I used to get emails and advertisement cards in the mail in the past, but zilch now.
It doesn’t help that Turner Field has raised their fares by like a dollar across the board, and those who like to come to the door and get their tickets, they’ve tacked on a $2-3 “day of game” charge that previously wasn’t there, that has angered many.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
The Braves don’t send out ticket e-mails? Christ, I get 3 or so from the Phillies & Pirates every week

Yeah, that's what tears it for me
Obviously you take dude out after that bad inning………..apparently not though…. The hole is only going to get deeper if we don’t start winning games. Even the Nats are looking pretty decent, in recent games, compared to the Braves.

Well shit, that explains why my last two softball teams went 0-12 and 1-11, nevermind that it was a team full of a bunch of corporate stiffs, people who couldn’t throw, fielders that couldn’t catch, playing in a league where one team actually had a Birmingham Barons minor league juicer reject on it.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
My humble opinion on what we need to be successful
1) McCann
2) GA to get hits or be released
3) Schafer as lead off and does whatever (bunts, walks, get beamed, or hits, to get on)
4) kelly johnson playing everyday in the 6-7 hole
5) Middle relief consistency
6) Aggressive base running
7) RUNS
8) No Tom Glavine unless Reyes included in trade
9) A TRADE FOR A LEGITIMATE BAT
AND FINALLY new management in 2010. Roger and Terry need to pick it up or go. Rick Kranitz? John Smoltz?? Joe Kerrigan? Kent Willis? Just a few
We have some serious young arms coming up in the system and Roger is not going to cut it.
Change “aggressive” for “smart” base running. Aggression (read: Escobar) has given away about two innings worth of outs already.
I’m not the biggest proponent of steals, but with this offense, it might not hurt to try. Someone said it before, can’t anyone find Otis Nixon and give him a job or something as a consultant? Teach the Braves with some base-stealing speed the way to do some real bag swiping.

Good luck finding Otis

Oh man...
..I just went to that website and watched a video of “The Catch”. Watching that, and hearing Skip, still gives me goosebumps.
Hire the man!
I wonder if Otis was ever high out there in center field…

You don’t like McDowell? Can’t say I know much about pitching coaches, what’s the rap on him? Would you want to pull Mazzone out of retirement?

Mazzone’s not retired, just out of a coaching job at the moment. He’s quite willing to consider another coaching job. I’m just going by what he’s said on the radio many times…he’s part of the morning “Rude Awakening” show on 680 AM in Atlanta, and you know Leo, he doesn’t mince words.
yeah the other 96 is that I am too good for everyone else.
Have no fear! Tuesday's lineup:
1. Infante, 2B
2. Escobar, SS
3. Chipper, 3B
4. G. Anderson, LF
5. Kotchman, 1B
6. Francoeur, RF
7. Schafer, CF
8. Ross, C
9. Kawakami, RH

Oh great, Ganderson’s back. Does this mean BJones is going back to AAA? And why is KJ is sitting vs a righty?

B/C his BA is actually better against lefties than righties, by a large percentage (don’t have exact numbers on hand)
Career, theres no split whatsoever. This season, there is…but whats that phrase I use a lot? Someone help me please
"If on-base percentage is so important, then why don't they put it up on the scoreboard?"
