Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap: 5/21
Toledo 2, Gwinnett 7
- B. Jones 3-5 2 2B, 2 RBI
- B. Conrad 1-3 HR(6), 2 RBI, BB, 2K
- T. Hanson 6IP 1H 0R 1BB 9K
It is time for Brandon Jones to get a real shot in the majors. I'm not 100% sure he can be really effective gettin 500 AB type playing time, but I'm just ready to give someone else other than FYF playing time. This was a vintage Tommy Hanson start. On top of the hit and walk he allowed he hit a batter, but I am sure the guy deserved it.
Mobile 3, Mississippi 5
- G. Creek 1-4 HR(3), 2 RBI, K
- R. Reynoso 7IP 2H 1R 3BB 2K
Ryne Reynoso is a guy who might be a ranked prospect in another organization that doesn't have the same kind of depth that the Braves have. I think in the long run he doesn't have really great stuff, but he may be a serviceable bullpen arm in the future.
Myrtle Beach 9, Winston Salem 6
- J. Heyward 2-5 2K
- F. Freeman 3-5 2 2B, RBI
- C. Johnson 2-4 2 HR15), BB, 2K
Well the big three did their thing in this game. It is especially nice to see Freeman coming around the last few game, even if his power isn't showing quite like it did last season. Cody Johnson is just a freaking monster. His OPS is back up over 1.000 on the season and he is second in the minors in home runs. Wouldn't you guys (and girls) like to have OPSs of .890, .820 and 1.003 at our 3-5 spots in Atlanta?
Asheville 4, Rome 5
- S. Shults 1-3 2B, RBI, BB
- R. Delgado 5IP 6H 2R 1BB 3K
I think the luster has worn off Delgado a little because at the beginning of the season I know I, at the very least, expected him to come out and dominate but he has merely been just good. He has struck out more batters than IP and he has asolid GB ratio. Still a stud prospect in my opinion, especially since he is still only 19. I would be surprised to see him to have a great run in the second half.

Leo “Muscle” Shoals hit 55 for the Reidsville Luckies in 1949. It seems like only 2 other guys have hit 50 in the Carolina League, and it’s been over 30 years since that happened.

6/1 coming up soon. Any chance we see Hanson, or are we going to watch Glavine lose us a bunch of games first.
If Dunn walks 30 fewer times, he'll drive in 15 more runs. This is thanks to the scientifically proven formula: RBI = (this is nonsense) (I made it all up).
Here's a stat: Wins as manager: Dusty Baker, 1,162; Bill James, 0.
Hmmmm, i still think they would bring Glavine back before they call up Hanson. I mean, i want Hanson up but I don’t know if the Braves will call me when the time comes.
I’m still 100% positive that Tom Glavine will never pitch for Atlanta again.

100% positive? Wow!
Is it clairvoyance or another very logical conclusion based on all the factual evidence?
Oh christ, here we go again

It’s cool man. I love Tommy, the highlight of my Spring Training trip this year was getting to meet him, but the man can’t pitch in the bigs anymore. I hate to say it’s fortunate that his arm won’t let him prove that, but the team can’t afford to waste 5 or so starts.
