PrintIt has been a fairly busy news day in the Braves world today. First there has been some bad news today about Omar Infante who has probably been out most consistent hitter recently. He will be out 6-8 weeks with a broken bone in his hand. The other news could be good or bad, depending on how you feel about Jeff Francoeur. Rumors are swirling that the Braves are looking to unload ol' FYF. I, for one, am ecstatic. You just can't have a right fielder with an OPS under .700. Not unless you have some other people putting up Barry Bonds numbers.
And on top of that news we have one of our bright pitching prospects throwing his first game tonight. Honestly, when this season started who thought that Tommy Hanson would get the call after Kris Medlen? I would have made the case for both Morton and Reyes to get the call before Tommy, but never did I think Medlen would be as good as he has been. Hopefully the Braves offense can go out tonight and get him some runs like the last few games so we can all be witness to his first win.
Medlen has been nearly unhittable in the minors this season allowing only 5 runs in 37.2IP to total a 1.19 ERA. He allowed 20 hits and 10 walks giving up only a .157 batting average against. Also he struk out 44 batters. He is a little on the small side from what I hear but his fastball can touch 94 at times and he mixes in an excellent curveball with a slider and changeup. My guess is one of those pitches has improved this season and has led to his increased production. Though to be fair he has always been productive, just from the bullpen. And before he was drafted he was a shortstop. The End.

Nah, got one already (and I never wear ‘em anyway). Wanted to see Medlen, but bad luck seems to follow good. I found a ticket on the ground last night for a Hank Aaron seat, but when I got home after the game, I hurt my foot pretty bad tripping over a $*&^@% ottoman. It started throbbing more and more as the day wore on and I just couldn’t deal with all the walking I’d have to do.

I think the team quits when they get down by more than a few runs
when we are tied, up a few, down 1-2, or up a bunch its fine. These games where we get down 4-0 or more, the guys just quit and wait for tomorrow.

Where I say — yeah they might have walked off against the braves in game 1, but my favorite moment is when they went on to lose 101 games, and then started 12-28 the next year!
