Myrtle Beach vs Kinston Saturday May9th

Well loaded up the car and took my 8 month pregnant wife to Kinston NC to see Jason Heyward and company against the Kinston Indians. Btw Kinston is perhaps my favorite place to see a minor league game ( they are Class A advanced) and play in a 60 year old stadium great seats everywhere, minor league baseball truly done right. Take aways:

Richard Sulivan pitched: Being the nut I am, I saw his pro debut in Danville last year he was dominant for four innings that night in Danville. He wasnt fooling anyone in Kinston and the hitters were getting good wood on the ball. He struggled to throw his curve ball for strikes but was quite a gamer. His defense let him down a couple of times and some home cooking on an error that went for a hit got him a bit riled and after a visit to the mound and he buckled down and got the job done. He is also standing a little different on the moundnot as stiff and upright as in Danville. Clearly didnt have his best stuff and still competed and kept his team in the game. Dont know that he is a big league pitcher but I am rooting for him.

Jason Heyward: the only teenager and first person in 18+ years I have asked for an autograph but was at Dunedin for spring training earlier this year and he kept signing in front of me: had to ask. He looks good very physically mature, btw he was the only player sign autographs before the game, as usual he warmed up with Freddie Freeman. While he was hitless on the night he had a good approach at the plate and impressed.

Freddie Freeman: flashed good leather several nice plays in the field. Looked much more comfortable at the plate than he did when I saw him in Dunedin this spring.

Cody Johnson: WOW he is BIG; a true monster the bat looked so small in his hands. Also good at bats and a couple of hits, looked better than you'd image running the bases while not saying much is something. I was desperate to see him launch one as he is leading the Carolina League in HR's well I guess I was a day early as he had two jacks on Sunday.

My wife has loaded pics on her computer will try to get some for viewing.

Just thought I'd post my two cents.

Were people asking the guys? Most players don’t just roll over and start signing stuff, they have to be asked.

Also, are the dugouts in Kinston still completely open? That was one of my favorite things about that ballpark.
