Game 2 Recap: Braves 4, Phillies 0
It's a good thing the Atlanta Braves have been able to score against the Phillies starters in this series because their bullpen hasn't allowed a single Braves baserunner. Much like in the season opener two nights ago, on Tuesday night the Braves got on the board fast with the long ball, this time off the bat of lead-off hitter Kelly Johnson. Chipper Jones followed one batter later with a double to the deepest part of the park in center field, then came around to score on an error by Chase Utley on a Brian McCann grounder.
As bad as the Philly starters have been, the Braves starters have been on their game. After a stellar performance by Derek Lowe on Sunday, Jair Jurrjens continued his great work at Citizens Bank Park, blanking the Phillies on four hits through five and two-thirds.
Unlike Sunday night, the bullpen also held the Phillies scoreless, with Mike Gonzalez having a much easier time of it in the ninth inning, retiring the side 1-2-3. New lefty Eric O'Flaherty got some luck getting out of jam in the sixth, and Rafael Soriano looked his old "bad-ass" self handling the Phillies in his inning of work.
Chipper Jones added some more fireworks for the Braves with his first homerun of the season in the fifth inning. The team also broke through with some walks, the first going to Brian McCann, and the second to Jordan Schafer, who went hit-less, but showed good patience at the plate and great defense in the field. Every Braves regular now has at least one hit on the season.
While Lowe used the groudout to record most of his outs on Sunday, the Braves pitchers got the majority of their outs with flyballs, some of them deep and noisy shots, but they were nonetheless able to keep the ball in the park, sometimes aided by the powerful wind blowing out to right field.
The Braves try to take the final game of the series tomorrow night as Javier Vazquez takes the mound for Atlanta.

Great game
I want to see more of Diaz. If I was Bobby Cox, and I saw Anderson drop one more pop-up, I would shelve him for a while.
PREDICTION : I agree. 3-0

I had to download Firefox on my work computer, b/c IE hasn’t been cutting it lately with some of these longer threads.
You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all.

Exactly…at work I have to, but I couldn’t take it anymore.

My only concern is the fact that Gonzo was brought in with a 4-0 lead, with Moylan already warm, and Boyer having not thrown an inning yet. Other than that, life is peachy!

It’s safe to say that unless Vazquez throws nine we’ll be seeing Moylan tonight.
