Overpriced, overhyped Yankees lose!!
I love it. Once again the Yankees go out in the offseason and outspend everybody, buy up all the big names they can, and they forget the one most important element to a team - chemistry.
A few notes on last night's Yankee - Oriole game:
Sabathia can't get out of the 5th, walked 5, no K's, allowed 6 runs.
Teixera was a big goose-egg at the plate, going 0-4, left 5 runners on base and couldn't get it done in the clutch in the 8th after the Yanks pulled to within a run.
At least A-Rod doesn't have to worry about Cody Ransom taking his spot.
The Yankees franchise is like a boil on the face of Major League Baseball and baseball fans everywhere. They build a $1.5 billion stadium (with taxpayer $$) and raise their ticket prices almost 100% during a recession. The "Let them eat cake" mentality of the Yankees will be the undoing of that franchise. In a few years the new generation of Steinbrenners will grow tired of $200 million plus payrolls only to eek into the playoffs as wildcard - if at all. They will have a firesale (reference Florida Marlins 1998) and lower ticket prices back to 1950's prices.
Yeah, and Mickey Mantle will come back from the dead and hit clean-up for them too. The Yankees will never change. They are an abhorration. A big market club that bullies 85-90 wins a year and never learns to play together as a team. And never has any commraderie in the clubhouse. You never hear players saying they want to play for the Yankees because they've always wanted to play for that manager, or because they love how the organization is run with loyalty and respect shown to the players. No, they want to play for the Yankees because they pay the most money and it's a storied franchise with a great history of players like Ruth, Mantle, Ford, Gehrig, Berra, etc, etc. Who can argue that point? Yes they have had some of the game's best. But with very few exceptions recently, those greats are only passing through to collect a paycheck and move on.
They have no heart.

Chemistry is overrated...
… and it was one game. Sabathia is historically a terrible pitcher at the beginning of the year. The odds are in their favor that they’ll be a damn good team.
Oh, Bobby.
"those greats are only passing through to collect a paycheck and move on."
Are you trying to say that Teixiera only chose the Yanks b/c of the money?
I am not gonna lie
I loved that they got beat by the O’s and that CC sucked. But, I don’t think this team will finish worse than 3rd place. I do think they will miss the playoffs again though.
The Muts are the ones I think will be a huge disappointment this year. I see them losing 90 games. Their rotation is just awful (after Santana). If WhenSantana goes down, so do the Mets.

FYI, we all know Teixeira sucks in April, and April is also Sabathia’s second worst month.
So yeah.

Yankees are like the Phillies in the fact that they’ll always put in a charge in the second half to make people in Boston sweat. That’s almost a sure bet, just like Baltimore dying at some point around just before/after All-Star Break.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I was rooting for those Orioles, brother.
And Tex sucks. It’s good that he and his misses end up in New York. You can have ‘em!!! lol. I’ve always hated the guy. Even when he was consistently watching strike 3 whiz by in Atlanta, quickly followed by his ‘I-really-am-the-shit-and-that-was-not-a-strike’ look. CC, Tex, and AJ, we all know a little something else about you now. Sell outs… And I mean that. Bump the Yankees. There, I feel better now.

rooted for o's yesterday, too.
and the yankees do this every year. it’s not chemistry, or any of that stuff. it’s just proof that money isn’t everything anymore. the yankees have to build a team like everyone else if they want to win.
and yes, it was sweet to see c.c. pitch that awful and see tex drop an 0-4.

Missing The Point.
What the Yanks miss isn’t chemistry or heart, it’s mental toughness. There are guys built to play in the pinstripes in NYC and there are others (the vast majority) that can’t handle it. They’ll bounce back and challenge for a playoff berth, but until they build from within like they did in their now defunct dynasty, they will continue to be World Series pretenders.

I don’t know about anyone else but I had the best laugh that I have had in a long time. They thought they were going to be this unstopable team this year by playing dirty and spending alot of money.Well they lost and the red sox won, enough said.
