NAHWAL Returns!!!

I know you've been asking yourself all off-season, "are we going to play NAHWAL this year?" The answer, hells yeah!

We're going to do some things a bit differently this year. The big change will be removing it from the front page and putting it in fanposts. Another change is who will be running the game. The infamous bigjoe was named NAHWAL Chief last year and he will be posting that day's NAHWAL thread and awarding and totaling points. He's in charge, so don't piss him off (easier said than done).

For those of you who are still aksing yourself, "what in the world is NAHWAL?" First off it stands for Noc-A-Homa-Win-A-Lotta. After that, you'll need to go here for the explanation.

The game starts tomorrow, and we'll award prizes every two weeks. I know, I know, I've been pretty lazy about actually sending the prizes out in the past, but I hope that with bigjoe taking care of the totaling and making the prizes bi-weekly that I'll have time and energy to actually send some stuff out this year.

I just want to take this opportunity to say how much I respect bigjoe and his posting. The first day I came to this site, I read a few of his comments and became hooked. I’ve become a frequent visitor ever since.

Things have changed up a little bit this year. Questions 1 & 2 will be the same, that is the attendance and your pick to click…I’m mixing it up a little bit with those 2 though. If anyone hits the attendance dead on (which will never, ever happen), you get 3 points. Otherwise, closest person (or people in event of a tie) gets a point. Pick to click…I’ll pick up to 3 guys per game that did well. If the game is an absolutely disaster (IE we lose 11-0 and get 3 htis), I’ll pick less. I won’t pick more than 3, though.

Now, the final question. This is the fun one. No more above and beyond picks. What I’m gonna do…is ask an openended question straight from my head. Its not going to be something impossible to guess, like “how many times did Jeff Francoeur swing at balls?” or “how many stupid decisions did Bobby make tonight?”, its going to be something along the lines of “total walks by Braves pitching”, or “name a player who will homer”. One point if you get the question right.

Whoever has the most points at the end of each 2 week period (and I’m counting Sunday as the last day of the week…because I can) wins a spectacular prize from gondeee until his junk drawer is empty. I don’t know what they are, so don’t ask me about them. YEAR-END WINNER gets a spectacular prize bought by myself (and don’t ask me what it is, because I don’t know yet).

NAHWAL threads will be posted before 1 or so for night games (maybe a little later for west coast games, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it), and immediately after the previous night’s game for day games. When I’m out of town or something along those lines, I’ll let one of the admins know, and they’ll post the thread…no need to start a thread yourself.

Scoring results will be posted around the time I get the next thread posted, most likely…except when I’m away, when they’ll all be posted when I get back. Don’t worry, I don’t plan on taking a week-long break, just a weekend here or there.

If anyone else has any questions, just post in here and I’ll answer you. Holla.

But, I kind of liked the AAB category. It allowed some creativity, and some people had some funny stuff! I dunno, this way won’t be bad, but I just think it was cool with and open-ended AAB. What if you make that a 4th entry?

Also, I liked how occasionally NAHWAL would take on another form like a haiku or whatever. But not all the time, just like once a week or every two weeks.

I’m not trying to tell you how to do you job, I’m just politely making suggestions…

Also, are there prizes? Like Steven Segal energy drinks or Jean Claude Van Damme sodas?

There are prizes, no idea what they are. THE BOSS won’t let me add a fourth category. I’ll probably end up using AAB is a category for QUESTION THREE every so often when I’m in a rush or my mind isn’t working.

They’re the leftovers from last year, 365 baseball books, Braves books, 755 shirts, 2008 PS3 baseball game (yeah, a year old). And I do have a whole case of that Steven Segal energy drink, so everyone gets a can whether they want it or not (and I would not recommend drinking it).

With those who don't give a damn about baseball, I can only sympathize. I do not resent them. I am even willing to concede that many of them are physically clean, good to their mothers and in favor of world peace. But while the game is on, I can't think of anything to say to them.
