I'm from Atlanta, and I don't even understand it," Scott Wedner, 34, said. "Don't get me wrong, Chipper Jones is a good ball player, maybe even a Hall of Famer. He led our team to a World Series, and might be one of the top three switch-hitters in the history of the game. But he's Chipper Jones, you know?

That article actually pissed me off.
Who cares who a kid likes. I grew up loving Chipper and also was decked out in Mizuno. Kinda rubbed me the wrong way with how blown away everyone was. I swear to god…..Anyone not from the south just has this absolute high and mighty attitude and their perceived superiority.
It’s not completely uncommon to have Chipper fans. The highschool kid in Tampa that had 4 no hit games in row said his favorite player was Chipper. If you look close at his clips he sports the mizuno batting gloves and bat bag. Just saying……….. there are chipper fans out there.
So I'm a complete idiot
What the hell is the point of the damn thing? O well…….thanks for the heads up and semi BURN at the same time.
props
for not playing the ‘just kidding’ card… and for having a moniker that is squeezably soft

LOL its the Onion, there really isn’t ever a point, though picking Chipper out of all the guys out there is a little weird. But maybe thats why they did it.
I love the Onion...
Have you seen their movie?

It's hilarious.
I was laughing practically the whole time. It’s good to watch with friends so you can talk about it later, too.

The Onion...
…has a pretty long history of making fun of the fact that the national media only has eyes for the Red Sox and Yankees. Here’s one example I liked:

Hilarious!
The Onion is great. In the story they do mention he could be a fan of Jeter/Ortiz/Wright or even A-Rod.
