So its been a while since I made a fanpost that didnt involve photoshopping, but this is about something that I have been wondering about for a while.
Before anyone starts yelling "Heyward will not see the majors this year!!" hear me out. What I wonder is if a perfect storm of situations arise, could we see Jason Heyward patrolling right field come playoff time ala a 19 year old Andruw Jones in 1996? Here are the IFs.
IF Francoeur is either (a. Injured at the end of the year or (.b Hitting below .260 and stinking the joint up like last season.
IF the Braves are within 3-4 games of the division lead or leading by the beginning of September while the aforementioned Francoeur is holding the team back.
And lastly, IF Heyward has been crushing the ball all season in the minors and has posted something alone the lines of .300+ AVG and 20+ HRs
IF all those things were happening, it would be very tempting to try and give the team a needed offensive boost by bringing up Heyward to make the playoff push. We have no one better to replace an injured Francoeur, and if he Jeff is playing terrible again then he will only be holding the team back from making the playoffs. I know nobody wants to rush Heyward, but if by the end of the year he is just tearing up AA do you think management would roll the dice to try to make a run?
