For Future Reference
I try to be fairly laid back on the rules of engagment here and I know things get heated between posters and it can a little frustrating for new people a lot of times with the "in crowd" we have developed over the past few seasons. BUT, there is a level of things I will not tolerate from posters.
1. The standing rule of no politics/religion applies here as in almost every non-politics religion blog on the internet. This is just a reinforcement, no one has really broken this rule.
2. No Racism - This means nothing that can even be construed as racism. I may not be personally offended by something you say, Royhobbs may not be offended by something you say or even Gondeee, but we aren't here to defend our sensibilities. We are here to defend everyones. And whether you guys realise it or not we are a fostering point of potential new Braves fans nearly every day and these could include fans from other countries who are drawn to the Braves because their favorite player just made the jump from overseas. So in the interests of the Braves lets not look like ignorant fools when we are making our fanposts.
3. Don't call people names. Again, it gets heated here just like everywhere on the intarwebs. But the moment you break into middle school name calling tirades you are done for the day. Sarcasm is always welcome and is a wonderful tool for making points. Use it, abuse it. Stats happen to work well also. The stat/sarcasm combo awards extra DP to the victor as well.
Anyways, some of you may know what all this pertains to. Others are probably oblivious. But I thought it needed to reinforced. Thanks and have a great day
Matt

Most of the severe stuff is deleted as soon as it is noticed.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
good rules
Very sensible rules all. Anybody who can’t abide by them should feel free to start his own blog where he can say whatever he feels like and those of us who like Talking Chop don’t have to read it.
great blog
I’m new to Talking Chop. One of the reasons I signed on (besides being a Braves nut for years) was the civility of the site. It’s informative & entertaining. I’ve checked out other blogs & just like the article states most of them have a middle school mentality. A few bad apples are going slip through. It’s refreshing to see the mangers of this site are staying on top of things. Go Braves. Tough homestand against the Cards starts tonight.
I’m new here too. I came over here after awhile of lurking and occasionally posting at the braves.com forum, which is pretty much the worst place on the internet. The no politics no religion no racism rules are freaking brilliant. That site fails in every aspect that this one succeeds. People here are friendly, funny and knowledgeable. To me, baseball is an escape. For a few nights each week, I get to forget about the economy or whatever the political hubbub of the day is, enjoy a cold one and pull for a team I’ve loved since I was a kid. Win or lose. Keeping all of the negativity that the rules prohibit out of the discussion is vital to keeping this place awesome. My handle, Grant Park Brave is a reference to Grant Park, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Atlanta, that is just east of Turner Field. On Friday nights, when they have the fireworks show after the games, I can sit out on my balcony and just make out the explosions about a mile away over the treeline. Sometimes I sit out there listening to a little transistor radio, knowing that the game is just a stones throw away (I’d be there, but can’t afford to make it to every one). But if someone were to yell up to me racist, political, religious nonsense while I’m in my happy place, I would lose my freaking mind. It’s baseball. It’s fun. It’s one of the few things in life that doesn’t suck. Let’s keep it that way!
I can’t wait for 7:10 to roll around again!

+ a whole lot
People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.
Love your post gpb – us Braves fans who can’t be at TF for the games have to find our ways to enjoy the game and picturing you out on your balcony (swatting mosquitos no doubt) with your radio made me smile. The only way that visual could be better is if Skip’s voice was emanating from it.
From one newbie to another, glad you’re here.
Needed to be said
I hope you enforce the rules because this is romper room. The language, the name calling, etc. is just childish. It takes the fun out of it for me.

If I’m thinking correctly, this is in regard to one poster to another.
I know some posters get upset at a botched play, a pathetic at bat and the like and express it in colorful terms in their post during the open threads of the game.
I could be wrong, but you’re not trying to put a lid on that type of thing, but reminding us to not target one another.
Great Post!
This newbie is thankful to you for saying things I have been thinking!
"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."
You write:
No Racism – This means nothing that can even be construed as racism.
Then I would appreciate if gondee were to refrain from saying things like this in the future:
Consider that if Glavine can’t go and we use Jorge Campillo, who was born in Tijuana, Mexico, we would have a rotation in which no two players were from the same country. That’s a far cry from the boring white guy rotations of Braves past.
As a white person, I find this offensive. I don’t really care if he was channeling Terrence Moore or not, that comment was unnecessary.
