Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

Braves-Related Notes from around Baseball

Here are some tidbits I came across while surfing this afternoon.

  • Recently released minor league pitcher Nick Fellman has found a new home with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the Independant Northern League. I always had high hopes for Fellman, but I guess the Braves had other plans.
  • Hammerin Hank Aaron finally got his own exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. The exhibit is called "Chasing the Dream." A second exhibit will apparently open in 2011.
  • Speaking of Aaron, there's a nice editorial in the Savannah Morning News about the stadium there, and about how the author failed to recognize Hank years ago.
  • The Mississippi Braves have had such a great impact on the surrounding area that there's talk about trying to attract another baseball stadium to the casino coast of Mississippi. I wonder if J.C. Bradbury considered this when he ripped the Gwinnett Braves for overstating the impact the stadium would have on that area.
  • Rowland's Office echo's my thoughts about Escobar and his fiery approach to the game.
  • Our old friend Joe "the hammer" Hamrahi has a nice review of the Mets new home, Citi Field.

Grayson Stadium in Savannah

Funny thing…that stadium is named after my family, the Graysons. Unfortunately, I still have to pay to get in.

Savannah native?

Grayson’s a great place. Glad they renovated instead of building a new stadium.

re: economic impact

besides the obvious point that the 2 locations are very different (one has a pro team less than 30 miles away, the other doesn’t), there isn’t much analysis to that article besides anecdotal evidence
