Chipper bashing Yunel
Jones agreed with Baker's assertion.
"Esco is high strung and he overreacts sometimes," said Jones. "There was no intent there. If you're going to stand on top of the plate, you've got to expect to get hit. If you do get hit, take your base. There's no sense in getting everybody all geared up. It was unnecessary."
Way to go Chipper standing up for one of your teammates. If you disagree with Yunel's reaction, how about just keeping your mouth shut and not bashing one of your guys to reporters. How does Chipper determine it wasn't intentional? Cubans and Dominicans don't always get along and there may have been history we don't know about.
The Braves need some intensity sometimes to rile things up as they've been playing lately only for the paycheck.

Terrible
I wish he would have told that to Yunel and not the media. Maybe Chipper has already tried talking to him though.
You can generally tell how the braves are doing by my mood.

As much as I like Esco, I have to agree that he’s high strung and has a fuse so short I’m not sure if it qualifies.
That said, not good stuff to be in the papers.

Actually, he was referring to Pablo Escobar, the infamous Columbian druglord.

Looks like you’re responsible for the removal of one rusty nail from someone’s penis.

Chipper being Chipper
And always saying the first thing that comes to his head, but being Chipper, there’s always someone to quote it.
Personally, I love the competitiveness and passion that Escobar brings with him. Some call it childish, some call it flamboyant, but I still see someone that has a genuine love for the game, and his actions that seem reactionary to excitement, like bat flips when he makes good contact and the celebratory smack into the glove when he cannons down a base-runner. I don’t ever want him to change. Except for his penchant to GIDP.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

wow
this is an amateur comment from a professional talker.
there is not need to let this spill out to the media, keep it in the clubhouse. and frankly, it’s pretty un-Brave of chipper to pull this crap.

to be fair....
this is as much a Chipper of a comment to make, and Chip is as Brave as they come. But there really is no need to bash your team mates.

i would normally agree with you
because I think chipper is the current mr. Brave, but his comments regarding the city of Toronto during the WBC really rubbed me the wrong way too.
the only way he can make up for this is if he hits over .400 on the season

Chipper’s comments about Toronto was more a commentary on the WBC’s scheduling than the actual city.
People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.

Yeah...
I read this the next day after it happened, and I was a little surprised, especially given that apparently many on the team (notably D. Lowe) seemed to feel it was intentional. Joe Simpson seemed absolutely convinced it was on purpose as well, saying that players “just know” when they (or their teammates) are being thrown at, and there was no doubt. He never mentioned Chipper’s quote, though. It had to make Yunel mad for Chipper to say this to the press. But then again, Chipper has never failed to speak his mind….as royhobbs said, he’s just being Chipper.
