In reading up on our new outfield acquisition, Brian Barton, I came across this Viva El Birdos Fan Post that refers to him as "Crabman." Naturally this is a reference to that guy on My Name is Earl, who was even better in the role of Rubber Band Man -- apparently he's typecast as "something-man" in every role he's in, not a bad gig.
A pretty decent resemblance. The both sort-a have the same hair, and they certainly have the same goofy smile.
My initial thought about the trade yesterday was, "that Barton kid killed us last year, didn't he?" Well, sort-a, kind-a. He only played one series against us, three games, he was 4-for-5 with a double, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored. He totally reminds me of Michael Tucker -- light power, good speed, decent bat. The guys at Viva El Birdos seem to think he's more than a smidge better than Garret Anderson -- not hard to disagree there. He'll be a good dynamic guy with good speed to have in case someone in the outfield goes down.
When Sid Slid has a good overview of Barton's career as a prospect.
I'm also borrowing stealing the poll from VEB.
