Schafer injured?

Heres what I just read:

From the The Sports Xchange: Center fielder Jordan Schafer clearly earned his spot on the season-opening roster and in the starting lineup. But he never spent a day at Triple-A and he missed 50 games at Double-A last season because of an HGH suspension. Add to the fact he had never played in any major league park until this season or faced that many major league pitchers (other than those he saw in limited innings in spring training) and there are going to be growing pains. That would be in addition to an actual pain: Word is Schafer hurt his left wrist to some degree during the opening series in Philadelphia, but he won't talk about it.

well, shit

I think Boog and Joe were talking about this. Also, you could see him put on a wrist brace yesterday while on first base. I am not sure if is anything serious or not, but he has definitely tweaked something there.

Probably ramming into the center field wall all of the time, he should take it easy like GAnderson, chill little Logan dude! What’s the hurry?

I dont think that has anything to do with the amount of Strikeouts he has been getting lately.

You think that a wrist injury is not affecting his strikeouts?

See the ball..swing…

See the ball..ouch..swing (late)…strike

Moral of my story is that a sore wrist effects the bat speed/control, leading to an increase in Ks.

This is true. i was actually thinking more from a mental stand point. Regardless of physical limitations his mind/judgement still decides what pitches he swings at.

Point taken though.

he said he got carried away because he hit two “bombs” and he wasn’t acting like himself. That is at least part of the reason. I am not sure how much, if any, the wrist injury is affecting him.

I’m all for playing through pain for the good of the team but not at the beginning of the season. Chipper chose to sit himself and already stated that had it been a playoff push he would play through the pain but because its early he will sit.

if he does have some sort of wrist injury i hope he gets smart and sits himself down before he messes something up

His healing power should kick in and take care of it. I guess he should have had his ligaments and tendons infused with adamantium too, so he wouldn’t get sprains or strains.

Cant wait to see that movie, not crazy about the casting, and the story is a little loose as compared to the comics, but they have done a good job so far with anything done in their new studio

Was the new Punisher movie done in their studio? Cause if so, that alone takes away three good movies.

Follow up

And yes, Schafer has been playing with a sore left wrist, which he’s been getting iced and wrapped every day. It’s something he said he hurt on a checked swing in the home opener on April 10. Somehow he managed to go out and have his first three-hit game in the majors the next night.

"It bothers me, but it’s going to just nag for a while," he said.
