Jordan Schafer got first base - the first base he touched in Philadelphia on his first major league homer - sent to him by the Phillies. He was pretty excited about that. Cool gesture by the Phillies. Jordan knows Charlie Manuel because they both live in the Winter Haven, Fla. area, but he’s not sure if Manuel was behind it or who. But pretty classy.

“I don’t appreciate your ruse, ma’am…”
You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all.

Speaking of bases
Turner Field now has this between-inning promotion that I’ve seen done in Anaheim and San Diego, that’s ridiculously harder here than there.
“STEAL SECOND” which is done in between the 6th-7th innings, when the grounds crew cleans up the infield and replaces the bags, a contestant starts at the RF warning track corner, and has 20 seconds to run to second, pick up the physical base, and run back, and if they do it within 20 seconds, they get to keep the base, which would be an awesome souvenir in my opinion.
Problem is, 20 seconds is something that a Jamaican Olympic track-runner-turned-bobsled-driver would have a problem doing. The first contestant was four seconds short, and failed. If they made it 25 seconds, maybe, but 20 is pushing it. The guy was in pretty good shape too. Out west, the promotion has them run to first, and back, in 30 seconds, and all contestants won fairly minimally.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
