I don't want you here either
has anyone noticed garret anderson's demeanor? never mind that he plays left field like louie anderson or that he cant get a hit, he doesnt even seem like he wants to be here. i would much rather have diaz out on the field everyday. we already have kotchman, who is slow and can't hit. i'm sorry, but if you're that big, can't run, and play first base, you need to be clobbering the ball, and he cant. and what is up with calling up jo-jo reyes to fill in for glavine's start at pittsburg? he hasnt looked very good in aaa, and tommy hanson can straight up deal.

Fuck Garrett Anderson
He’s on the wrong team. And sucks really hard. Is he retarded? I really dislike the Braves when he is playing. And that scares me.

completely agree. and what’s with our only stolen base attempt this year being Heap’s?
We have to start manufacturing runs if our offense is gonna perform like it did today.
i also think send GA down and bring heyward up. he can hit. we need that. lol
Baseball is a game where a curve is an optical illusion, a screwball can be a pitch or a person, stealing is legal and you can spit anywhere you like except in the umpire's eye or on the ball.

Garret Anderson is the new BJ Surhoff.
A “professional hitter” who didn’t really want to be here to begin with and as a result played like absolute balls.

I just thought about this today too
Dude looks fucking miserable out there. Like he doesn’t even want to play baseball anymore. I realize he’s probably bummed that he doesn’t play with the team that he spent his whole career with, but why the fuck didn’t he just retire then? His demeanor and energy out there seems way off… unless that’s how he always is… we’ll probably have to consult Angels fans for that.
I was willing to be patient because I was under the impression that he’s a slow starter and he would work well in a platoon role, but his defense and hitting have been atrocious thus far and he seems to genuinely dislike being out there. I don’t see the upside.

I think the Braves were high on getting Griffey and when he went to Seattle, we still wanted an outfielder and GA was it. Diaz looks good now and the pickup looks stupid, but I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing. Also, if we bring Hanson up, we start the Arbitration clock which isn’t a good thing.

Platoon with BJones and Diaz. Do I really need to be managing the Braves? It’s like they are trying to force a square peg into a circle, and the circle peg is lying right there. Fuck, man.
Assume anything hit to left (w/ GAnderson sleeping out there) is a hit, and an error. Fucking bastard.

i’ve noticed the same thing tonight to, GA does not want to be a Brave, and it is showing BIG TIME, he’s putting a half assed effort into it, the errors tonight are horrible,
what i’ve seen even from our A prospects this spring has been WAYYY more than Anderson has ever brought to the table
i’d take Heyward
Diaz,
B. Jones
Blanco
anyday over anderson, even before tonight, i’ve never liked what i’ve seen from him

Add, Gorecki, Matt Young, Gorkys Hernandez, Infante, Prado, Borchard, Willie Cabrera, Brooks Conrad, Kris Medlen
and probably half a dozen or so other players in the Braves organization who I’d rather see out in LF for us at this point. At least all of the above names mentioned are going to play their asses of, catch everything that hits their glove, and get some hits.
He may be a “professional hitter” but a household garbage can could catch more than that waste of space. I didn’t like the signing when it happened and now I’m really starting to hate it. It’s a shame because between the money we coughed up on him, Glavine and Ross we could have Abreu instead. But now it looks like we’ll only be getting one serviceable player for all of that money spent.

There's only one way to save it.
The Schafer/Medlen platoon SP/CF.
Medlen gets the righties Schafer gets the lefties. The other one plays CF. It’d make for great television if nothing else. And it’d be like having a DH with the way Medlen would hit with regular work in as a hitter.

I thought that Anderson would be a good enough player to get us through this year and then he could retire, but now I’m thinking that if he doesn’t start hitting within the next couple weeks he will be DFA very soon. That brings up another problem though I’m not sold Diaz can play everyday and I really don’t think that Brandon Jones is anything more than a fourth outfielder so who takes that spot. There are rumors of some guys who could be available at the deadline but they are either going to be free agents or are making to much money.
For those of you talking about bringing up Heyward that is a very dumb idea. As good of a prospect as he is it is very doubtful that he could come up and do that good. Plus you start the arbitration clock on him. It would be a waste.
My guess on Reyes being brought up instead of Hanson is that the Braves are hoping that Glavine can pitch in a few weeks and don’t want to bring up Hanson for only a couple starts and then send him down again.

Back from the game
Not worth sitting out in the 54 degree weather, watching Anderson play the way he did. Did TV viewers hear the booing he got when he came up in the 9th? Because he did.
I’m trying to be clear-headed about the situation, and sure, at the end of the season he might have his slightly-declined, but still partially-acceptable offensive numbers, but after tonight’s defensive wizardry by him, I really don’t want the Braves to be the team to give him the chance to get his numbers. Slightly knee-jerk to the events of the night, but I’m afraid that like the OP, I get that awful impression that he just doesn’t want to be in Atlanta.
Did he ever make any comments after signing with the Braves? Did he do any live chats with the fans? Did he even compliment Bobby Cox? Hell, even Kotchman at least said something about Bobby Cox. He just kind of shows up like a disgruntled employee, and it shows in his body language and his production.
I’ve interacted with enough Angels fans to have known his reputation for being a lazy player, but after seeing him do it for the Braves does it actually begin to irritate me. He cost the team THREE outs; the two dropped fouls, and I’m not certain if you guys saw it on TV, but he had a foul ball that was an outstretched glove away from being an easy out. Had he caught that one, the wild pitch would have done no harm.
If anything at all, I just hope that Anderson gets the pine tomorrow. Let him clear his head and try and get over his abysmal performance, if he even gives a shit.

But lookit. This is the last straw. We have to win our next two games. Have to. And I’m sure GAnderson will be in at least one of those games. But it doesn’t matter. We have to win both games. We have to win this series. We could do it. Very easily. The Marlins had alot of well-hit balls tonite. That factors in a little bit, too. We (mainly one guy) had a very bad night. We just can’t have any more bad nights for a while.

I don't really think it's a must win...
If we drop two of three, we’re still only a game back of first place with 153 games left. That’s not exactly a bad place to be sitting.
By the end of the month we should have Garret and Glavine out of our systems. It’s a shame we didn’t have the brains to sign Abreu instead of those two + Ross (nothing against him, but he wasn’t quite as big a necessity). And I’ve been saying this since it happened.
Also, Chipper needs to man up, and bench himself if he can’t get the ball out of the infield yet. It’s not like we don’t have anything backing him up. Having Infante/Prado means that our infielders need to do the admirably thing and sit instead of trying to play hurt when their just going to drag down the club.
All that being said, Volstad was dealing for most of the night. But having a player who wasn’t right batting 3rd tonight killed us.

Gotta keep playing Kotch at first...
Dude is a major league hitter, and while he’s nothing special at first he’s certainly acceptable. I think Prado deserves some starts against lefties at first, especially over benching Kelly right now against anyone like Bobby did Sunday, which is just ridiculous. But Kotchman is a pretty damn good ballplayer, who has gotten off to a bit of a slow start— which by comparison to the rest of the lineup has made him look pretty crappy.
Kotchman’s a guy I fully expect to get 60+ XBHs if he gets 600 ABs. And that’s nothing to turn your nose up to, even if it’s mostly doubles, and he grounds into to many DPs.
