NAWHAL 4/10/09: Nationals @ Braves

Alright, lets try to wash that skunk out of our mouths and get on with life. Wednesday was an embarrassment, and hopefully something like it never happens again. Derek Lowe is on the hill tonight for the home opener, and I'm pretty sure he's the first pitcher in the league to make 2 starts. I posted the standings after Wednesday in the NAHWAL thread for that game, so yeah. Still very early in the season and the period, so everyone is still jumbled up...no one has taken sole possession of the lead yet. Without any further ado...

1) Attendance. Remember, it is the home opener

2) Pick to click. This award hasn't really been spread out too often...think about that for a minute

3) Derek Lowe's ERA is currently 0.00. After today's game, what will the first digit of it be? ERA = (runs / innings pitched ) * 9, for those of you who prefer to just look at a number in preference to calculating a number.

Have a good time everyone...thread for Saturday's game will be put up around lunchtime, while the Sunday thread will be up after Saturday's game (and will not get scored until that evening). Scores for tonight should be done immediately following the game, barring something unexpected happening.

And made a question after knowing that his answer was six, and will write #3 questions for tomorrow and Sunday where the answer couldn’t possibly be six, like “how many homers will Chipper jones hit today” or “how many times will Francoeur score with his wife after hitting a grand slam”

That being said 1.) 35,776

2.) Chipper Jones

3.) The first digit will remain a zero. (0, for bigjoe when he uses ctrl+F later on instead of the auto-exec script that VictorW suggested he write and use lol)

As a programmer, I can say it would be a pretty complex parser to handle edits (see chipper injury), the varied different ways people enter text. I suggest he embed a data collecting form for the entries so it is already in xls format. Bigjoe let me know if you want help with this.

Yeah, he’s the one slated to start opposing Lowe tonight. The same Curacaoan Shairon Martis who threw the abbreviated no-hitter in the 2006 WBC. But he also got shelled last year in his only start against the Braves, if I’m not mistaken.

still zero

Question 3 is ambiguous. Is zero a digit? For example, if after tonight, Lowe’s ERA is 0.95, to me, the correct answer would be: still zero. Others would probably say the correct answer would be: nine.

It’s not ambiguous at all, I don’t know how much more clear bigjoe could have made it…a 0.95 is ZERO

Its a good thing I left after the 5th inning last night…because man, I really can’t deal with another bullpen meltdown right now.

Attendance was 48,327…didn’t I tell you all it was the home opener and you should pick big? Regardless, point goes to tomahawkin108 (BARELY~!)

Picks to click is pretty easy. To give myself extra work, we’re gonna go with the FULL MONTY today and pick KJ, Yunel & Heap. Points go to angrysmurf, UltimaParadox, Smoltz’s Beard, fandave, Bravely going forward, Chopaholic, cmdpsu15, justuncredubil02, jug, Viva la Francoeur!, FrankyWren, cirela20, ghos, heapofoatmeal, tomahawkin108, Bmacbandwagon, AndyBravesFan, Lizziebeth, soup du juor, mvandonsel, Jolo, Weldon, WeStillHaveBobby, chance13ga, dc_allday, mwchipper, BraveSaluki.

Lowe’s ERA is 0.82, so whoever had 0 is the WINNER. Points go to royhobbs, mistress, someguy917, cmdpsu15, secondbass, jug, VictorW, Bobby Cocks, ghos, McCannsMuscle, Atlas1828, TomGarrett, jc25, Bmacbandwasgon, Little Lady, 10-4 (you tried to not guess, and still got a point), vandelay, soup du juor, Jolo, dc_allday, Bream to the plate, and he is…, Euruproktos, brndn, nick9314.

Results will be posted in the NAHWAL thread for tomorrow
