Spring Training Open Thread: Braves at Tigers
It seems like the only teams we ever play are the Astros and the Tigers. Tommy Glavine takes the mound for his final official start of the spring today in Lakeland, of course, his "spring" will go on for another couple of weeks.

Five inning limit today for Tommy...
… gotta get back into the trainers room and get those Depends changed.
Oh, Bobby.
Opening lineup for sunday
what is the consensus of the group for Sunday’s opener. My opinion:
Schafer
Yunel
Chipper
Mac
Anderson
Frenchy
Kotch
Johnson
pretty safe, can schafer be the guy at the top of the lineup?

I could get on board with that. I don’t think I would want anyone else in the #1 spot

who do think we hit leadoff then?
by Fortune favors the brave(s) on Apr 1, 2009 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions
Good question
But my bet would be on Esco, at least at first. I think Schafer will bat lead sooner rather than later, I just think Bobby will drop him to 8 so he doesn’t get overwhelmed at first.
I think it’s alright, but I don’t think it’s going to happen because managers seem to have this convoluted perception that batting leadoff puts the weight of the world on that player, so they wouldn’t want to do it to Schafer, so they’ll probably switch him with Johnson or Escobar, depending on the arm of Philly’s opening day starter.
And because of the popular belief that the catcher shouldn’t bat cleanup, Anderson will probably be placed there, with Francoeur batting 5th, and McCann batting 6th to do the LH, RH, LH thing.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Yeah, I never quite understood how batting leadoff puts so much pressure on a player. I would think leading off in the first inning is a lot less pressure than leading off in the 7th or beyond. And since managers can’t guaranty who leads off what inning, I think they sometimes just look to far into it.

I like that. Except swap Johnson and Anderson.
Which Bobby won’t do. But that’s probably how I’d do it.

No complaints from me here.
But I’d probably switch Anderson and KJ.

I would atleast
let him be the backup for a few weeks. He must be a super hot starter, remember the beginning of last AAA season?

9-3 Final
Braves win, Glavine gets the win with 5.0 IP, on 7H and 3ER.
Norton doubles, Chipper drives him home in the 9th.
Interesting facts – Chipper Jones has 26 ABs this ST, limited due to his WBC participation and oblique strain. Escobar and Johnson have eclipsed 65. Chipper’s 4 homers leads the team for the Spring, and his 10 RBI are third overall, while OPSing 1.233. Yes this is a small sample, but his small sample is far more impressive than many of his teammates’ full-samples, right now.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
He's a professional hitter
Need I say more?
So…you’re saying that he’s Garret Anderson?

What an afternoon!
I’m minding my own damn business ignoring work/keeping up with the game, and my computer crashes, and after an hour+ on the phone with the good people from DELL, i have a laptop with a clean slate, i.e. i lost everything. Friggin awesome. At least the Braves won.

Wasn’t there some virus that was supposed to wreck havoc today?

You tricky bastard…if I click that link I’ll probably get the virus, huh? You used to be a little more subtle with your crippling computer viruses, roy. I guess those days are of a bygone era.

Only if it’s where I can still access wi-fi. Otherwise, there’s no way for me to re-iterate how much you suck at Street Fighter.
I have two windows machines at home, btw. I’m just toolsy as hell and can use either without any drop-off.

I don’t think it was the virus, i think it was more that using Vista finally caught up with me. It is truly shitty.

Windows Vista
on our Govt computers sucks big time.
Windows Vista on my home computer is great. I have had no problems in over a year with it.
