Garret Anderson out for a couple of weeks?
Dare I say that we may have signed the hitter's equivalent of Mike Hampton? After only two spring training at-bats, newly signed left fielder Garret Anderson pulled his right calf muscle while warming up -- very Hampton-esque. Now we get the inclination that he's not going to be able to play for a while:
Talked to Garret Anderson and he's not big on giving timetables, but reading between the lines, I'd say it'll be a couple of weeks on his calf.
There was supposed to be some further clarification after the game, but so far I've seen nothing. It's certainly good news for Matt Diaz, but let's hope it's not more wasted money and wated roster space.
Earlier in the spring, Anderson indicated that he would need around 30 at-bats to get ready for the season. If that is still the case, it's going to be tough for him to get them in the last week of games, if he will indeed be out for two weeks.
This seems to be more than the usual spring training muscle strain, and more like a full-blown injury. It's not a good sign that the middle of the Braves order, Chipper Jones and Garret Anderson, are both on the mend right now. Meet your new cleanup hitter, Jeff Francoeur.

Can't we cut him before the end of ST
And only have to pay him 30 days of salary rather than the entire season’s worth?
i thought he got a couple at-bats in a game before the one where he got injured.
Your source for blind optimism.
his comments
Did anyone read those comments he made? There was something along the lines of “I’ve known reporters long enough to know you shouldnt say a time frame. We’ll check in again around 10 days and see whats going on.”
It seems like this dude took the first chance he had to sit and tank for a while, once he got his paycheck lined up. It doesnt even sound like he’s disappointed. On the contrary – he sounded RELIEVED to not have to bust his ass anymore.
Cut him.
Whats the dude gonna say? He dont know when he is gonna come back. And if you ever heard the guy talk he sounds laid back and not a big speaker so i dont agree with the “he sounded RELIEVED to not have to bust his ass anymore.” comment.
What i got out of it is he knows the media a long time and if he says oh he will be ready so and so day then the media will expect that and blah blah blah. I heard nothin out of the ordinary from him. He pulled a calf muscle big deal, he should be ready by opening day.

Your one of the more knowledgeable Braves fans on here(which alot of people on here are also just namin you now) but man dude are you seriously gonna mention Adam Dunn everytime like this? I would have liked to have gotten Dunn also hell i even mentioned in a thread that if we could get the dude for 2 years and $20 million it would be like the perfect deal for us and then a week or so later he signed for that with the Nats. I wanted Dunn also but man let it go lol.
