Spring Training Open Thread: Braves at Yankees

The Braves head into the middle of A-Rod country. This means that you have to mention A-Rod and his exploits every ten seconds. So remember this when commenting on this game -- you must mention A-Rod!

In televised game open thread news, the USA takes on Canada today at 2pm EST on ESPN. Hopefully we'll get to see Brian McCann and Chipper Jones.

Nederlands beating Dominicans 3-2 in the 8th, thats surprising. If only they had A-Rod, who is out with a torn labrum and a cyst.

i’m loving how the a big deal is made about David Wright and Jimmy Rollins being teammates, while no mention of Chipper Jones and McCann also being on that team. Are the Braves still in the NL East?

by 10-4 on Mar 7, 2009 3:37 PM EST reply actions

Plus the countless shots of Jeter in the dugout

The Braves somehow always get over-looked. Not after this season, though.

In case you guys weren’t watching…Chipper is a much better hitter from the right side, according to Drunk Sutcliffe.

I'm not not licking toads...

by Smoltz's Beard on Mar 7, 2009 4:52 PM EST reply actions

He always has been, throughout his career.

I know this because I trust everything that an announcer says. Especially ESPN ones.

by soup du jour on Mar 7, 2009 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

Sutcliffe has said some truly idiotic things today....

…when McCann got the sac fly for the RBI in the 2nd, he said it was because of the talk he had at batting practice with Jeter, telling McCann that he never tries to pull the ball. McCann wants to be just like Jeter.

Oh, and A-Rod should take the summer off, get the surgery, and take a college class or two. Cause he never got to go to college, you know. Poor guy.

by sddbaker on Mar 7, 2009 5:05 PM EST up reply actions

Arrrrgghhhhh, Putz.

He was being interviewed by my favorite morning radio show up in the DC area, and he was just a really down to earth guy…and pretty damn funny. They love to covet, so they asked him what kind of car he drove and he said a Ford F-650!

I'm not not licking toads...

by Smoltz's Beard on Mar 7, 2009 5:25 PM EST up reply actions

I was told by someone on this blog that tickets for Tampa were always sold out. Well guess who snagged a pair 4 rows above the Braves dugout. Yeah, thats right. My camera went on the fritz, otherwise I’d have a ton of pictures.
