WBC Game #1
I am jonesing for Baseball so badly that I stayed up last night and watched most of the Japan vs. China game despite having to work this morning. All in all it was a good game, some notes:
Sadaharu Oh threw out the first pitch, it is sad he couldn't coach Japan this year, especially after they won it all last time!
Japan won 4-0
Ichiro went 0 for 5
Japanese 3rd Baseman Shuichi Murata hit a 2-run bomb
The Chinese team is small! Only one guy was over 200 pounds. Most of their players are slap hitters.
Yu Darvish = Really good. He threw four hitless innings. Why isn't this guy in MLB?
I am thinking about going to the semifinals in LA. Do you all think I should go?

ALL the MLB players went 0-fers that night. Sounds like they’ve integrated themselves into MLB material after all these years.
Darvish is under agreement for like the next 8-9 years. Unless we want to see another posting war, don’t expect to see him in the States anytime soon.
Go to the semis. This happens once every four years. In about three hours, I’m heading off to the airport for Toronto for the first round. Not going to miss it.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

His team might value the posting fee more than those 8-9 years though. Especially as the world economy continues to sink

Also, according to most published reports, Darvish is happy pitching in Japan and doesn’t want to come to USA.

I know what you mean about jonesing for baseball. We’re gonna go to the UGA game Saturday afternoon even though they are playing a school i have never heard of. Apparently the Dawgs are kiiling people early in the season.

I know you have mentioned it a couple times so I am sure you understand, but I am absolutely LIVID at the lack of spring training games on mlb.com radio.

They are playing Quinnipiac (pronounced KWIN-uh-pe-ack). It is a small, private university in Connecticut. UGA might put up 20 on them.

Im sure this has been addressed elsewhere, but can someone tell me why Kawakami isnt in the WBC? Was he not good enough to make the team or did the Braves block him since this will be his first year?
I’m just curious…
