Gwinnett Braves

Anyone else thinking that the Gwinnett Braves may be more exciting for die hards to go see play than the actual Braves?  Talk about the right time to move from Richmond, if there could ever be a right time for that (seriously, how long have the Richmond Braves been around?).  I agree that the move was a smart one, as Richmond or Norfolk should be the AAA squad for the Nats, and with the load of talent in the system the Gwinnett team should have great attendance.

So my question is how many Gwinnett games do you think you will hit, and who are you most excited about seeing other than Hanson, Freeman, Schafer or Heyward?

I seriously doubt that Freeman and Heyward will be at Gwinnett this year. They’ll be in Atlanta!

I’m actually putting more effort into getting Gwinnett Opening Day tickets over the Atlanta ones. I plan on going to both, but I have no fear of missing out on the scintillating Nationals selling out Turner Field, even on Opening Day.

Gwinnett is almost three times the distance to me than Turner Field is, so I don’t plan on going to more than 3-4 G-Braves games this season. Mostly only weekends, and/or if Tommy Hanson is pitching. Anything more than that is gravy, to me.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

by royhobbs on Mar 4, 2009 9:49 AM EST reply actions

I’ll be making the 4 hour drive from Vermont to Pawtucket to see the G-Braves 4 game set the end of April/beginning of May. Can’t miss the chance to see Hanson pitch. I’m also assuming Schafer will be there (I like Jordan a lot, but a season in AAA while Anderson tears up the basepaths is a good idea imo) as well as Marek, Medlen and Parr.

4 hour drive?

To see AAA baseball? You sir, are either a true die hard fan or you are sitting in my camp.

that being said, I need to check the Trenton and Iron Pigs’ schedules.

The joys of living in Burlington, Vermont where we have only the Nats’ short season team. I’ll also hit Manchester, NH (Toronto AA) to see some other prospects, most notably the Giants’ trio of Bumgarner, Alderson and Posey.

In the past my wife and I have done Spring Training for 10 or so days as well as knocked off a big league park or two each season. However, with a 7 month old our travel budget has taken quite a smack. I’m actually having trouble coping right now, as it’s the first time in ten years I won’t be at Spring Training…

Please. Gwinnett gets mad props for being a place where a Wal-Mart was fought against, and successfully repelled. Outsiders also hate your abysmal traffic, and despite it being unverified, stem the term “OTP” based on Gwinnett County. It’s like Alpharetta, Roswell and Decatur are part of the city despite it being them all being way the fuck outside of I-285, but Gwinnett County? It’s like Pujols took a slice of Southeast Asia and dropped it in the middle of Georgia, so the snoots of the city don’t want association.

Some Gwinnett "girls" have presents, and nice...keys

What can I say about being a resident Gwinnettian…I’m not a property owner (they really get screwed in GC) and I have plenty of people to ridicule. But please; pay for a ticket and parking to see a team with the fugliest mascot ever? Oh, once or twice to see Hanson maybe. But I’ll mostly be going to the Ted, with my free parking, free ticket and good usher buddies…can’t quit that!

Heyward and Freeman

Wont be in AAA…if they play well they will probably end up in AA by the end of the year

Also, Shcafer will probably make the big league club out of ST
