Matt Ryan Camp

Hi all,

Just wanted to spread the word that Matt Ryan is doing a camp for 7-14 year olds..just signed my son up this afternoon.

Pretty good deal I think..its only $90 if you use the code "mattQB" and sign up online here: http://www.procamps.com/toppsmattryan

Ryan doesn't get anything for doing the camp, just out of the goodness of his heart so I figured I would pass along the info.

Flacco’s leading rusher was a fullback, Ryan had one of the best backs in the league.

True

but a runningback does not the best team make. A good team is comprised of much more.

If Joe Flacco had Michael Turner in his backfield, he would have had better numbers than Ryan. Instead, he had a fullback who somehow nearly rushed for 1000 yards, a former All-Pro back who I bought a jersey of who apparently has a case of Hampton-itis, and a rookie who’s smaller than me.

But yeah, our defense was WORLDS better than the Falcons. I still think it was better than Pittsburgh’s, but whatever. They’re all a bunch of thugs anyway.

Not so sure...

Yes, Turner was a great RB who definately helped open up the passing game for the Falcons. There is no debating that. But, at the same time, it isn’t like Baltimore’s running game hindered its offense. Baltimore was the 4th best rushing team in the NFL last year (Atl was 2). No, they didn’t have Turner, but they still had a running game that gave Flacco every opportunity to excel in the passing game as much as Ryan did.

For the Record:

I am a Jaguars fan, so I have no personnal bias in this discussion…just an outsider’s point of view.

I love me some Flacco. He is a great QB and Balt definately raped my Jags by trading down for him. But, Ryan is/was the far better QB last season.

Flacco took over a playoff team and kept them in the playoffs. Ryan took over a desperate franchise and turned them around (with help from Turner and Mike Smith, of course).

The Falcons were predicted by many to go 1-15 last season…

Pretty sure we were generally predicted to finish 3rd in the division, possibly 4th. Can’t really remember.

The Falcons division was made up of teams that finished 12-4, 9-7, and 8-8. The Ravens division had teams that finished 12-4, 4-11-1, and 4-12.

The Falcons played 4 games against the AFC West and 4 games against the NFC North, which combined to have 2 teams with winning records, and 2 at .500.

The Ravens played 4 games against the NFC East and 4 games against the AFC South, which combined to have 5 teams with winning records, and 2 at .500

Yeah,,, but

the Ravens had the 2nd ranked defense, while the Falcons were number 24, including the Tom Glavine of the NFL, Keith Brooking.

Flacco had a proven go to veteran at receiver (Mason) along with great TE (Heap). Ryan had a couple of young guys that almost got cut (White and Jenkins) and a 3rd string tight end (Peele).

Ryan did more with less than Flacco…in fact, the Ravens would probably have the same record with or without Flacco…

by bwellnjonesco on Apr 1, 2009 1:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, thats because Troy Smith is fucking awesome.

Also, Heap was mainly used for blocking last year. He wasn’t a factor receiving nearly the entire season.
