Spring Training Open Thread: Braves at Tigers
The Braves face the Tigers for the first of four meetings in the run-up to the regular season. They are 1-and-1 against Detroit this spring. Javier Vazquez takes the mound, and it is curious to me that Garret Anderson is on the preview page for this game on the Braves site... makes me think that we might get a Garret Anderson sighting in the lineup today. The game will be on the MLB network, hooray!

Agreed
Thought it was going to (try and) make me cry, but I’m laughing instead…“but the runner has to stop at 2nd base and tally his banana…game will last all day!”
Just damn, miss him!
Any time they have a game on MLB Network........
we have to listen to the other team’s announcers. It’s not a huge deal, but what’s the deal with that?

G. Anderson walks. nice.
I read today that G. Anderson enters 2009 with 14 straight seasons of fewer than 40 walks in at least 400 plate appearances. That ties Willie Davis for the longest streak in MLB history.

I hope this is because our players are actually good
And not because Bonderman is still recovering from injury
Tigers announcers talking about Vazquez’s bad career record, apparently ignoring the fact half his career was with an abysmal Expos team.

Isn’t Olympic Stadium a complete shithole? I think there were 4000 people in attendance when I was there.

Wow, this is weird. The game I was at in Montreal 7 years ago, was started by…Javier Vazquez!

I live in upstate NY, 15 minutes from the border. And yes Olympic stadium is a shit hole, like pieces of the ceiling fall from time to time. They want to get rid of it, but it would be so expensive to, like it would be cheaper to make a new stadium, which is what they should’ve done. A downtown stadium would have worked out.
he should probabaly try to take those outside pitches the other way, but whatevs

Apparently
he was a GREAT director of parks and rec in Lakeland, so they named the stadium after him. Don’s elaborating right now.
Satan takes another pitch! Unfortunately, it was strike 3. Stupid douche.

Ross
He is going to be a great backup catcher. He already has more hits and HRs in ST than all of our backups all of last year.
Granted, he doesnt have big shoes to fill, so he probably looks a lot better than he really is right now. lol.

If he gets the CF job…………….who knows. I might do something crazy.

Bad Boy Blaine Boyer
Im going out on a limb here….Blaine is gonna be closer at some point this year. His stuff is electric!
I think that limb
is going to break and you are going to fall. Boyer has good stuff, but the only time he will close is:
1. Gonzo and Soriano are injured
2. Gonzo and Soriano both have the night off
3. Gonzo and Soriano are traded
Basically, he is the 3rd option for the closer role right now.
