IMO
The two biggies are that you have too many outfielders and you need more consistent sources for saves. Kouz and Aviles are both going to be 28, which is a good age for breaking out/peaking, but I wouldn’t trust them as your starters. Delgado is iffy too…

Depends on the order they were drafted
but, first glimpse tells me you did quite well:
1B – Solid production last year…may see less playing time this year though
2b – what needs to be said? Utley is the best 2b in the game
3B – I think you could have done better here, but I don’t know who was available or when you drafted him
SS – Meh…much better options out there
OF – Solid all around. I like the Manny/Dye/Ankiel combination for power, the Crawford/Bradley combo for speed and overall all those guys get on base enough
SP – Very solid lineup
RP – over-rated in fantasy baseball…unless your league has “Holds” as a category, don’t expect too much from those guys.
Overall though, not too bad. Should be able to contend. I would trade one of those OF bats (Dye or Nady) for a legit 3B or SS (or a player who can fill both positions).

True...
but he is definately faster than McCann is. Bradley is a pretty fast guy with the ability to steal. Admittedly, I was thinking more in the terms of a few years ago when he stole 15 and 17 bases. He is never going to be confused with Ty Cobb, but he can run when given the green light.

we already proved that speed is meaningless
i remember seeing someone do the rundown on value added for Stolen bases between McCann and BJ Upton… and McCann added more value with his basestealing because he never got thrown out
im half kidding FYI
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?

Remember
your also playing on the potential. faster people have the potential to steal a base. Also higher average/ On base Percentage hitter have more oppourtunity to steal a base.
ALABAMA leading the NCAA with infractions since 2001
having trying to steal bases doesnt add value so… that doenst make any sense… being succesfful does add vlaue, however gettin thrown out is negative value… if the negatie value u create by stealing bases is higher than the positive value ur not successful… and in comparing players when one person only steals a few bases, but never get thrown out, whereas another guy steals 40 bases but gets thrown out 10-15 times, you would prefer the guy who never gets thrown out because he is adding more value (this is because the negative value created by getting thrown out is drastically larger than positive value of taking a base, which is why stealing bases generally isnt effective)
SO in summation ur argument is worhtless, unless ur syaing someone who is on base is more valuable, whihc is obviously true but has little to nothing to do wiht the value one can add through stealing bases. Additionally speed is probably one of the least important thigns one can use in stealing a base… you steal bases based off reading the pitcher and getting a good jump… all the speed in the world is useless if you can’t do this. Evidenced by the fact that Michael Bourn/BJ Upton/ (insert fast guy here) gets thrown out. Obviously the more you attempt the more you’ll get caught, but that doesnt chaneg the percentage. This is evidenced by Matt Holliday and Lance Berkman and Ian Kinsler having added great amounts of vlaue thorugh base stealing, despite not being notoriously fast (although one can argue Kinsler has good speed). its because they know how and when to steal.

This team looks pretty darn light for being in a 10-team league. You should look to upgrade your corners and your closers, either by hawking the waiver wire or via trade. One of your starters should bring something back in return. I don’t think this team will sniff the playoffs as is.

Kevin Kouzmanoff will fucking KILL you if OBP or walks are a category. I love Ricky Nolasco big time

This wasn’t a good year for 3B. There was a few good ones and then a bunch of filler guys. If his league just plays off of hits, walks, home runs, and RBI then Kouz could be good. He should hit 20 HR’s and have around 80 RBI but you could do better. I ended up with Zimmerman and Beltre and really I’m not that worried about it.
Two of my teams have 3 guys with 3B eligibility. Don’t give me that excuse.

doesnt it suck being a Braves fan when it comes to fantasy and SB… u feel obligated to take Braves players then u realize they never steal bases
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?
by fatazfoot on Jan 7, 2009 8:59 PM EST
On the contrary, I usually do not end up with Braves players – kind of a reverse faithful thing, and most of them suck in fantasy anyway

I got Chipper as a nice value pick in one of my drafts. I figure between him and Milton Bradley I should have an above average Utility spot.
by Smoltz's Beard on Mar 25, 2009 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions
I also go crazy with my utility spot…in a league last year, I took Pujols in the first, and because I was concerned about his elbow, Tex in the second…yeah. You can see what I’ve done in other leagues, grabbing guys with multiple eligibility which results in a solid player (Gonzalez, Morneau) getting thrown into my utility spot because Yahoo is gay.

Yahoo! kind of sucks donkey balls, I don’t even know why I signed up for a league in it this year

I have only played Yahoo! and ESPN, but have been nothing but pleased with ESPN. I have not wanted to try any other site.

Because you couldn’t help but want to join my league, don’t deny it.
I’ve found Yahoo to be the best site to use, and I have no idea what the hell bigjoe is talking about. If you’re paying attention during the draft you should know full well who you have at each position. He probably sucks at fantasy baseball.
by Smoltz's Beard on Mar 25, 2009 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions
Nah man, like…I draft Youkilis (1B, 3B), and he gets thrown into my 1B slot when I want him at 3B…so for the fuck of it, I draft a 1B, and he gets thrown into my Util slot. Yahoo will not allow me to draft another 1B and will force me to draft a 3B to fill that slot despite me having one. Its gay.
SWAGGA LIKE BJONES, SWAGGA LIKE BJONES
I understand what you’re saying about during the draft, sometimes it shows guys like Youk in the position you don’t plan on playing them in, but as far as this goes…
Yahoo will not allow me to draft another 1B and will force me to draft a 3B to fill that slot despite me having one.
…I’ve never seen someone physically prevented from drafting who they wanted due to an open position. One season a friend of mine ended up with 5 guys that could play 1B.
by Smoltz's Beard on Mar 25, 2009 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions
i definately
was able to draft several positions. I like yahoo.

Not to bad
C. McCann is a top 3 fantasy catcher
1B. Delgado was great in the second half last year but not that good the first half
2B. Utley will be great if he’s healthy to start the season
3B. Kouzmanoff isn’t terrible and this wasn’t a good year for 3B, I ended up with Zimmerman
SS. Aviles was good last year but lets hope he can keep it up this year
I do wonder why you have so many outfielders when none of them can play the infield. Ramirez, Crawford, and Nady should start with Ankiel at U
Your starting pitching should be fine but like pointed out earlier your saves will be inconsistent.
Weak For a 10-Team League.
I hate Kouz, don’t like Aviles or Crawford, would be worried about the durability of your K pitchers and the lack of depth for saves…
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering…

Padres and Cubs
Both have unproven fireballers taking over at tentative closer right now; I don’t play fantasy sports, but I’d have theorize that the Cubs are going to win 88+ games, with Marmol getting a generous amount of chances. I like Heath Bell, but the Padres just aren’t going to be winning a whole lot of games this year, thus providing fewer save opportunities for Bell.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Some mope last night on MLB Network said that the rumors in Cubs camp has Gregg with the lead for the closers role.

It’s rough sometimes…Harold Reynolds has proclaimed no less than 20 players are “on the verge of super stardom” and just last night Sean Casey was attempting to break down the reason why Korea has been so dominant in the WBC yet can’t win (he failed miserably).
But at least it’s baseball.
