Spring Training Open Thread: Braves at Blue Jays
Our new ace Derek Lowe toes the mound against the Blue Jays today.
In a point of roster clarification, deep within the D-Fab blog (which sucks even more now that the comments are on multiple pages) he mentions that the Tom Glavine contract has not yet officially been "filed," and that will happen when Glavine reports next week. So the spot that was vacated by Tim Hudson being placed on the 60-day DL, was apparently filled by Garret Anderson, and another move will be made in a week when Glavine officially reports to camp. This is pretty confusing as there are 41 active players listed on the 40-man roster on the Braves official website -- so maybe they're just as confused as we are.

So I checked out a copy of MLB 2k9 last night. Not too bad if any of your folks are into the baseball games.

I thought it comes out on the 3rd of March?
He robbed his local Gamestop.

Well, I've got a stream that's going at the moment
Googled Toronto Blue Jays Radio and then hit the first link that came up.
Who knows how long it’ll last.
Awesome!
I’ll give it a go, too. Thanks for the info. I tried a slightly different search phrase and got a “due to MLB blah, blah, blah” message.
Might be because I was listening to the pre-game show before they switched over
Or something, technology is indistinguishable from magic
I can't get it...which station did you click on?

I watched 40-50
Braves games there last year. Never paid a cent. It’s my way of fighting back against these facist blackout rules I get in Pa. Philly, Mets, Pirates, Yankees…I hardly get to watch anything.

VERY good
he is a huge boost to the bench and means that none of our big guys should get into foul trouble again.

we’d better stop talking about basketball before someone has a hissy fit and gets the thread deleted…it has happened before…

The Canadian broadcasters...
“He struck oat in his first at-bat…” Maybe he could tell us more ABOOT that.
So ironic...
I just watched the South Park movie again last night…

Blanco grounds out to 2B
Since he’s leaving for the WBC, this could be his last game with the team this year.
anyone know if all those groundball singles from lowe were a product of our DEF not playing well or just the hitters finding the gaps?
i hope so cause if the DEF has gotten worse with offseason weight gains or anything that would suck especially with lowe as our ace

Schafer K's
But he did work the count full after fouling off several pitches.

And 5 cm of freezing rain!
What is that, about 1/2 a hog’s head?
Schafer needs to calm down with all these K’s. we dont need him to be a ryan howard we need him to lead off!!
Josh Anderson
should lead off

That wont work
Because then Francoeur will have no place on the team

Ross seems to be tearing it up. I think i’ll finally be able to take McCann having an offday . . .
Now Chipper on the other hand . . .
I agree
If we’re gonna have a backup catcher who doesn’t hit too well, at least he’s got some decent pop when he connects.
by FineHamAbounds on Feb 28, 2009 2:47 PM EST up reply actions
I’d rather have one K every few AB’s then him doing like shafer and K’ing every at bat.
another positive so far seems to be that Escobar learned out to not GIDP

Interesting...
Adam Loewen in to pinch run. I’d like to see an AB from him.
