Minor League Q&A with Danville manager Paul Runge

Danville Manager Paul Runge was recently kind enough to take the time out of his very busy day to talk some Braves minor league baseball with me. He's a top-notch guy who gave me all the time that I wanted; there were a few other questions I wanted to ask, but didn't feel like overstaying my welcome!!

We have plans to hook up for another interview during the season to talk about how our prospects are doing up to that point.

Paul Runge loved the F-word when he managed AA-Greenville.

Oh, Bobby.

Nice interview. I like Runge, cause he, like pretty much all the Braves coaches, tell you how it is.

One note on Steve Kent, he just had, or is about to have, surgery on his arm (labrum I think), so he might be out for a while.

Thompson

Nice post—but I thought that the Braves dratfed Thompson out of Virginia rather than Virginia Tech…

I like reading these

But I know any Q&A with a coach won’t give you the whole story about anyone. The first thing he says about a lot of these guys is that “he’s a good competitor,” which doesn’t hold a lot of meaning.

So this is Ryan?

Thanks for sharing this. I don’t usually comment on The Examiner, but I have read your stuff from time to time.

I really appreciate the info on the prospects deeper within the organization. It’s hard to find much on them. Bill Shanks used to be a really good source, but he doesn’t seem to have the time any more.

No problem

Parish -

No problem, it was a fun interview to do. I really tried to focus most of my questions on some guys that don’t get as much info, I think Mr. Runge was happy to do an interview where he didn’t get asked the same questions regarding Heyward, Hanson, Schafer and Freeman. I have a couple more lined up so stay tuned for those.
